Best way to feed

I was wondering what everyone is doing for feedings? I grow in soil, and water every other night. 1/2 a gallon of mixed nutes per plant in a 5G pot. Should I be feeding/watering untill I have run off out the bottom, or is the 1/2 G per plant enough?

Will I have any problems with build up by not having some run off?

I use only water every other time. I like to have a little run off when I'm feeding to ensure all the roots are soaked. When I give it just water, I give it just enough not to run out so the roots have some time to eat up what's leftover before the next feeding. I also like a good flushing once a month.

I usually allow for a little runoff, but I'm still learning. Seems that's often the way its done.
