So I have a question, first among many, I'm sure. I've been veg'ing for approx two months now. What is the optimal way to switch to flower?

What I mean by this is, I understand I need to leave them in the dark for a certain period of time to allow some chemical process to occur. How do I water before doing this? I usually water with a gallon of water each time and then wait for two to three days before watering again(5 gallon fabric pots). Should my soil media be mostly dry or is it fine to put them into the dark as soon as I water them?

I am not sure you need to worry about that. Yes I think some will say there is an optimal time to feed, such as just after lights on maybe but as for when to flip to flower and how, pretty sure you just reduce your daily light to 12/12 and poof, now you begin to flower. For instance how I do it is 18/6 through veg and 12/12 through flower. My lights come on at 6 a.m. and off at midnight. Once flip to flower I make the lights come on at 7 and off at 7. I would keep watering just as you do if they seem happy with it so far.

That's.. literally the same light schedule I'm on now LOL on at 6am and off at midnight.

Some have said that I need to leave the plants in the dark for 36 hours or something.. not true I take it?

This is what my plants look like right now. I think the photo does the size of the plants a little bit of injustice as I think the plants are a little smaller. But regardless, I think what I've built thus far is sufficient enough for a first time grower :)

Nooooooooo surely you do not have to. You sure they were not talking about at the end of flower? A lot of people recommend that at the very end you leave them for 24-48hr but I hadn't heard about between veg and flower

Nope, from what I've gathered, and again, I've never done this before, pls pardon my ignorance, that in order for the veg phase to end and the flower phase to begin I need to have them in the dark for a day and a half. These are photoperiods btw, not autos.

Whoa no that is really good for a 20th time grower. Whatever you are doing just keep at it. Onlt thing that maybe can be said is that if you spread the large colas out a bit, light may be able to penetrate the thick canopy a bit further and increase harvest. That is a REALLY good lookin grow though. How many are there?

@Aqua Man brosef throw us a bone por favor. What is the advisable way to flip to flower? Give them 36, go from 18/6 to 12/12 overnight, or either or is ok? Appreciate your time 🤗🙏

I think what I'm going to do is do exactly like you do. I just went and refamiliarized myself with the process and it says on GWE that alls I have to do is switch to a 12/12 cycle. I've never done this before, so please consider my apprehensiveness lol, I'm almost there though!! Started in the middle of May

@Aqua Man is from the great white north here too, so if he does something similar, I'm going to assume he does his from 8-9am to 8-9pm. Is that a similar schedule to what you do as well, @PerfecTrader ?

I tried the 2 days dark and cant say it helps any ime. More ao you will see yellow tips as they lack photosynthesis

usually a week before flip i hit em with a P boost then just change light cycle on flip day from 18/6 to 12/12.

This grow i have not not them with a P boost

Looking good but get ready for the plants to double in size in flower. They will also completely shift their drinking habits and you will need to increase more so any routine you are used to now is going to be changed up a bit. You will adapt and overcome those plants look great for a first time grow 🤘

Plants are looking fantastic btw… you may wanna pull some leaves before flip as its likely to get pretty crowded in there.

As for watering your best off watering early in lights on and as often as needed. plants dont photosynthesize in the dark so they also dont drink as much water since photosynthesis drives transpiration rates. For this reason you dont want to water late in the light cycle unless watering multiple times a day which can be required in certain circumstances

That was actually another question I had. I have had this natural inclination to believe that I should wait for my plants to develop more fan leaves before tying them down with LST. Is this true? Is that what I should be doing? What I mean by this is my 'shoots' begin to develop three leaf blades, then 5, then 7, then 9 as they grow bigger. I have tried to wait until the shoots develop at least 7 blades before tying them down, as I believe that it will produce bigger buds. Was I right to think and do that? Or does the leaf blade count not matter whatsoever?

No I was lights on 6am to midnight and then in flower 7a.m to 7pm now. I am about to run a 2nd tent that will be 18/6 in the same room. The lights will be on at 7a.m. and off at 1.

I’ve experimented with many ways honestly and im still trying new things. I just wait till the plant is big enough to start tying down. It takes awhile to get a feel for these things but it seems like you’re on the right track. Don’t overthink it just keep things simple the first run and don’t tie down a seedling. I also suggest taking notes that you can look back on. You might run the same strain and you will have a playbook of everything you did along the way. That helped me learn a lot I would say that’s a good practice.

Hey my apologies, I totally missed this message! There are four plants growing in there, 4 KUSH plants lol

Took your advice and I pulled some leaves, or 'lollipopped' as it's called, I believe.

WOW. Those things are STICKY, my hands ALMOST felt like they do whenever I go to clean the resin out of my vape mouthpiece. Is that an indicator that I'm going to have some highly resinous buds that are sticky sticky? :D
