Man it's pouring down since last night you gotta be getting rained on fella? I'd hate to see you getting mold now😟 it's getting late.
Nah! No rain! Not for the next 10 days according for to the phone! A little south of the rain line! 😁 Getting a little nippy, though at night! Getting pretty close, I think! Get yours, all jarred up?

I think it’s worth a try! And Add a lot of perlite! You gotta try something different! You would also be able to space them out in case something contagious is flying around! Also, gives you a lot more control over the root zone! No more guessing about what’s going on down there! And if you put plants out in June, you will still have plenty, big girls! Depending on the size of your pot! I think it’s time to try downsizing your grow into something a little more manageable! Maybe bend A few! You’ve got all winter to mull it over! Start adapting your grow too you and your environment! I’ll post a couple pictures later when I go out! They are all pretty, damn healthy! You sound like me four years ago after mother, nature’s slapped me down for the second time! Picked myself up and decided that these beatings were getting monotonous! Something had to change! L O L! You go, girl!
Heya C I agree with chucky wholeheartedly 20-30 gal plastic pots on pallets I started mine Apr 20 under T5’s up potted to 1 gallon hardened outdoors started June 1 timer was set to sunrise and sunset equal to June 1-5 very important for the hours for your seedlings to grow at. I didn’t up pot in stages this time they went into the big pots which kinda slowed down the growth I believe long story short they were smaller this year by far way more manageable size no monsters 👹 I fimmed and topped some of them. Wifey was very happy with their size no 7 ft ladder required lol only a 3 ft.

Sounds like a plan. My only change to your system is fabric pots and placing them on top of the potting soil I dumped on the 12 spots I used this year. AND splitting open the bottom of the pots so the tap root can anchor itself.

I dug out half the 'accurs-ed' dirt and dumped used potting soil from my Autos on top. Hoping it'll keep the soil dry enough to discourage the Verticillium wilt that decimated my plants this year.
Drier is better. Plus, if we get alot of rain again I may cover the ground around the pot so it doesn't get saturated.

Actually the plants themselves didn't seem to mind wet feet, but the disease liked it TOO much. And I will also trim and train them more like indoor growers to keep them manageable. (we'll see how that goes 😉) Like chucky said, I have all winter to ponder my moves for next year.

And I know hubby will be glad when I don't have to climb the seven foot ladder dragging my 3 gallon sprayer up with me. LOL

Question for you, Cpur.

You know we use something to cover our soil so the sun isn't beating on it all day, to retain moisture, and improve soil health.

You think it is bad to do for these plants? I pulled the straw off of my pots half way through the summer in order to help with dry back.

Had to share a couple of pics from today. It may be hell to grow here and not too nice in the winter, but right now makes it all worth it. 😁 Been staring out the window, then took a walk around the property, can't get enough.

This past Spring, early summer was way too wet up here. Not usually like that. I always cover my bare ground with grass clippings to keep it moist. In fact September was bone dry this year. (shakes head) Crazy weather.
I learned this with my vegetable garden and tomatoes. But you know, they don't really have big root systems and need the help.

I used grass clippings on the weed to keep nasties from splashing up onto them, but it may have contributed to the disease becoming so virulent. Something to consider.

I know you’re not asking for my two cents but what the hell! Heat is your friend! Humidity is your enemy! I don’t think you guys are using nearly enough perlite!

We’ve been down this road before! I’ll believe it when I see it, Granny Clampett! Nappy time!

I will take that under advisement. And your grow certainly demonstrates that.
(And got up from mine an hour ago. LOL)

Your 2 cents is always welcome.

The sun beating on bare soil isn't your soil's friend though.

I did need more perlite for sure, especially in my promix mixture that I used.

I was really asking her if she felt that by covering the soil, like we both do, helped those diseases spread faster.

I know all about sun hitting on bare soil! Wouldn’t have it any other way!

@Oldchucky you use grove bags?? Do they work well for curing and would you trust them with a whole summer if hard work and stress?? Like I’m putting work in some or more should I just jar it or trust in the technology?

But I think you’re both on the right track thinking about shifting to indoors! And growing outdoors for a lark! You guys just don’t have the season! IMO

I like grove bags! But if you don’t heat seal them, which I have never done, they will lose moisture over the months, depending on how your climate is! So you need to monitor them and maybe leave hygrometers in them! If you catch it before it gets too dry, you can add a little moisture and put them away for another two or three months. There’s nothing wrong with jars! I just think they’re too small! A lot of guys use buckets! It’s not very easy at least around here to find a gallon jars! And they are expensive! And I don’t need 30 gallon jars laying around! I keep varieties separate! And I do use jars to store the weed. I think I will need to smoke in the next four or five months! So I’m not constantly getting into the bags! But you do have to monitor the bags! Try both! When the bags are empty, you just fold them up and store them in a drawer! Not so with jars!

I opened up a bag of 2022 harvest, and it smelled great! Still got a good buzz! But it was oxidized to a certain extent! I’m not sure if there’s any way of getting around that!

The problem I’m having is I’m going to have a lot of bud also don’t want 60 jars to burp and forget
So I should check them monthly or more

I opened up a jar of Bigfoot glue from last year‘s harvest, and it had a little mold in it! I had put it away a little too wet! I think the bags give you a little more leeway in that respect! If you’re going to use jars, you better make damn well sure that it is dry enough to go into them without problems! And I don’t use bags there are any smaller than 1/2 or 1 pound! I like some headspace! Don’t know whether that’s good or bad, but it makes me feel better! You can put some small quantities in a jar! A fucking quart jar will only hold about two or 3 ounces at the most! As you have probably found out! Lol probably not even that much! I think the bags are more forgiving! And if I harvest anything this year, I am going to heat, seal them! And see how they maintain!
