Amen to that. I remember when I shot my First scoter in Humboldt bay, when I picked it up it was coughing up fish!!!
I was ready to give up duck hunting a couple seasons ago when my hunting partner moved out of state. But his grandson lives a few miles from me, and wanted to go hunting, so I got him in a class and he got his license, now he hunts with me almost every weekend. I rarely shoot, I let him shoot and I work the dog. Last weekend he got three, and his first “Scotch Double”, 2 birds with one shot. Here’s a pic:
Some of my fondest memories are of hunting with my grandfather, i still miss him. We hunted together for 25 years, he quit hunting at 80, and passed at 91.

Yes they are! We still get a lot of them in the area. Of course now the limit is two, back then it was 50!
That’s the thing about duck hunting! You need to be able to identify them before you shoot them! Some there are a limit of two! And some more! Different limits for different strains!

I wish I could try them I heard how they delicious they are. I had a big water blind at the edge of heavy cattails they would go screaming past us at Mach 10 and we would miss them every time.
