I have a 3000 watt inverter that will run the grow room even with the big dehumidifier.
2 batteries gives me 15 hours at max and I have a cable set that can run off any car to power the inverter and charge the batteries back up.
Best move I made. Sold the the big 15KW Portable Generac POS and got two smaller ones. This 9.5 Honda is incredible then my older reliable 8K B&S, typical B&S but also simple and parts readily available.
I have a bare bones for the grow room. 3k psw inverter and 15 hours of batteries at full load. Also taps any car for recharging and powering.

My big Jump box does the same. But I've found this one is so much more handy to just grab and go. Jumps my old Massey and my trucks just fine. I haven’t pulled out the big one in a while now.

Hopefully not for me, I'm surrounded by water on three sides, so very little fire danger for me, but you never know what "block" you're in. Never had them turn it off for weather/fire issues, but have been subject to a coupe brownouts during peak power draw. Was in Vacaville/Davis earlier today and the wind was ripping, not so much at my house. Had to do an emergency vet visit this AM at 0500. Dog was in deep trouble, couldn't sit up, stand, or walk. Had to get my SIL to drive over and help me load the dog in the car, thought he might of had a stroke, could barely pick his head up. Turns out he's got "Old Dog vestibular disease", basically a really bad case of vertigo, so bad he couldn't stand or walk. Took him to UC Davis Vet hospital because we thought it might be nuerological, and the local emergency vet doesn't has the equipment. After acouple hours at the vet he was able to walk, and the vet said no stroke or tumor, and he should recover completely in a couple days, scared the crap out of me, I thought he was a goner!

When I lived in Vallejo, we didn’t have problems with the power either! You’re lucky to have access to Davis! That’s pretty much the only MRI or CAT scan place available! Glad it turned out to be nothing too serious! But an expensive and anxiety ridden morning! My dogs are on a $1000 leash! Any more than that and they don’t come home! As one found out about two weeks ago! Lol! Davis is 130 miles from here so that isn’t gonna happen! Had one put down on the tailgate in the vet parking lot! The last three I got in early enough where they could still walk! I don’t carry them and I don’t bury them anymore either! Lol! Glad your pooch is OK!😍

Cost wasn’t bad considering, it was $330 to walk into emergency on a Saturday, and the exam was another $65. Luckily they didn’t have to do an MRI or Catscan. Which reminds me of an old joke. Guy walks into the vet with his pet duck, tells the vet “there’s something wrong with my duck”. The vet does an exam and tells the man, “ sorry to tell you but your duck is dead”. The man says “ he can’t be dead isn’t there something else you can do?” The vet leaves and come back a few moments later with a Labrador retriever on a leash. He walks the lab around the exam table and lets it sniff the duck, then he leaves. A moment later he returns with a cat, he sets the cat down next to the duck, and the cat stares at it for a minute, then he takes the cat away and leaves.. about 5 minutes later the vet returns and tells the man, “I’ve done all I can do and the duck is dead”. The man is heartbroken, and asks the vet what he owes him. The vet says “$450!. The man asks “why so much? The vet says “it would only have been $50, but I had to charge you $400 for the lab work and the cat scan”

Spoke too soon on the power, wind was howling all day and about 2pm the power went down, at least the generator started right up. Power came back about 10 pm.

Good it's back and gennie did her thing.

Are your lines aerial out that way? Our are and ice, down trees, limbs and occasional country boy taking a gravel road curve/turn too fast take them down periodically.

They are mostly aerial, they've been undergrounding a lot of the lines up in the hills because of the fire danger, but where I'm at the water table is too high and the flooding can be a problem in the winter.
