I prune my plants all year long but we will be cleaning out a lot more over this next week. I think it is really important to clean out all that underbrush and dead leaves before they go into flower. Letting them grow naturally is never a good idea, you don't want a bunch of dead or half dead branches and leaves on the inside of your plant. They won't produce anything of value, all it does is restrict air flow and increase the changes of mildew and mites getting a foot hold.
Ok so u do uncover them at night. I was wondering about that. Which buds do you think are better in ur opinion. Light dep or the full term buds?

This insight is much appreciated and is great food for thought, blaze. Thank You. . I've been struggling with what to do/which way to go on this since things just blew-the-fuck-up here. BIG plants (not as big as yours, but my largest) are something new here...as is the entire OD thing. I've made 2 stabs at growing OD the last 2 years and have learned mucho...but the curve is still huge. LOL. You just can't anticipate what you don't know about....
So when you are talking "clean out"...are you shaving em up.... leaving the bottom leaves and taking the shoots... or are you thinning branches and getting more aggressive? FWIW/if it makes a difference...my plants are mostly destined for the bubble bags. Not growing for sale/bag appeal/YUUUGE tops/etc.
I have 5 Purple Cheddars going in the mix here.... all of them grew like this... (and yes..I know they are all too close together. Never had plants take off like this before...LOL. Live and learn.) This is one of two..the smallest...in 25 gallons...the rest are in 65 gallon smart pots.

I have so much to learn still :bookworm:and I have been reading about growing for years nowThe late spring and early summer light deps produce the best buds possible in my opinion, better than indoor or any other cultivation method. Something about flowering under that intense solstice sun really pumps up the potency, flavor and bud structure.
Though I actually find the full season outdoor to be better than greenhouse full season. The greenhouse buds always look nicer but the flavor and high is never as good to me. We should really be able to dial in the difference once the permanent greenhouse is built and we are pulling 3-4 runs a year, plus the full term plants. Some strains definitely work better during different season. Some plants do better in low light conditions and work best in the fall for example.

Do u have a tank less going up to control the heating?Been extremely busy the last week so I have not had much time to take many pictures. So sorry @scoop, no pictures on in inside of the outdoor plants to show the pruning yet.
The last of the work to get the slab for the new greenhouse was finished today and we are finally ready to pour the cement. There was a lot to lay out - electrical conduit, drains, tons of rebar, pipes for the various water and irrigation systems, and all the PEX tubing for the radiant heat. The plan is to build three 52' x 5' 8" raised beds, but for now we will just be using 15 gallon pots. The long term plan will be to have everything connected into a controller so the irrigation, lighting, cooling, radiant heat, fans, curtain system, and dehumidifiers will all be able to be monitored and fine tuned.
Most of the electrical will be run over head so it does not interfere with the light dep curtain system, but we still had to run conduit for the manifold for the radiant heat system and a few other things. Completely finishing the electrical will be a major project, but I know all I need to pull off a fall crop this year is a few fans; nature will do the rest for me. We have enough power to run all the primary systems, but we really need a dedicated 200 amp service just for this one building once lights are added. We may end up having to put in some power poles and upgrading the entire service for the whole ranch as a result.
Three irrigation zones were installed in total, in addition to four other zones for water hook ups. One will be for hose hook ups/plain water, one will be for compost tea, one will be for an overhead foliar system (which I have said for years I want to build but never seem to get to it), and one is an extra/back up system for whatever else we may need in the future. Ideally stainless steel sloped drains would have been used, like at a brewery but they were outrageously expensive, and would have required the slab to be twice as thick to account for the slope. The whole slab will have a slight "W" shape to it, so all goes away from the walls and raised beds into the two drains.

The company that installed the PEX recommended we build a small boiler room next to the greenhouse to heat it. I will look into a tankless as well though. I at least want to install a tankless on the irrigation lines so I can get the water up to 60-65 when irrigating during the cold winter months.Nice setup, good to see u used the legit pex. What size raised bed is she in? Seed / of clone ? Prob dumb question, that huge damn near has to be a seed plant.
I been debating between doing simple raised bed boxes for next year, or going direct in ground with no beds. I like the idea of beds though because I can just make them, and then fill em with EWC and cover crop and mulch all around them heavy with wood bark, and have a neat tidy garden. This season has been a challenge fighting off the weeds, and organization etc. Definitely learned some valuable lessons this season
