From the diy threads I've read, most all use the foam board, either in r10 or r7. I've not hear of anything bad from using it.

My builder buddies gonna help with the platform. I'll have to remove one of my wall studs, or cut a 4' section out of it, put a new stud, headers, then build the platform to support this 105# monster. I only have a 3hr window to do this.

You only want to enclose the rear part, not the sides and top. Sides and top is where the compressor pulls in the air. Unless I read that wrong.

Scored this today at HD. Rated for 250*, but only r3. I'll put some fiberglass over the exhaust box to bring the r value up to nearr10 as possible. The r10 board didn't have a safe heat load rating. Nor did the heated floor stuff. I'll post Everything in more detail as I do the build. Got my drain tube figured out as well. No need for slight decline, as my unit uses the water to help cool the condenser.
2x 4x8 sheets @ 16.xx each had the guy cut into 1/3 to fit in my damn jeep. I miss my truck)
grommet 2.00
6' drain tube 5.00
2 rolls 3m hvac flex tape 24.00

wow for once I was right about something lol I was worried about heat lvl. Do u happen to know if any chem come off this stuff when heated. for sure nice to know about that r 10 I was going to check it out this weekend. my ac is funny u have to tilt it on its side some if u tip it back that water pools and the fans hits it and lil droplets over time turn in to a mess.

I may try and fab up the exhaust box to a point in a few days. Have to lift the 102# monster up on a table to work on. Lol with 1 knee I tore the meniscus on, the other i had surgery 4 yrs ago for a meniscus tear as well. Fvck I'm not 21 any more.

As far as the water, I barely get any drain from my 14k portable. Im guessing the same amount, or almost none. Ill have a deheuy in the room after i make the room upgrade....again and again and again. Lol

Why not install a drain tube? Mine has a grommet/plug. I matched the size at HD, scored some braided hose, and it fits.

Platform has been made. I'll make the exhaust box this weekend, and do any finalizing and what not. I'll make a new thread as to keep it easier for the next guy.

Couple of starter pics for ya.

I will add another layer over this box. I may just use some faced r10 or something and tape it up.
