did you know this is the same process using coconut coir, that they put in filters for your room,i always thought it was straight up charcoal,so was busted and filter was not doing it job,so opened mine up,dumped it out on a cookie sheet and with propane torch and a spud attachment,i slowly drifted over the coir and all the dust pollen and what not just burned off, trick is dont catch the coir on fire, when it shows a little ash stop, anyway, put that bitch back together and have used that same filter for over 3 years, using it right now, about ready for a cleaning again

Matter of fact anything containing carbon works.

Anyway pretty simple. Any thick metal container such as an old turkey roasting pan. I had this laying around and the handles are ideal for handling with 2 crowbars.

Fill with coco coir, rice hulls, or pine bark fines. Here's why I like rice hulls. Very low dust and perfect sizing for surface area contact. You can wait until the fire turns to coals or whatever just make sure flames aren't licking the top. All it takes is just a small flame to lick this stuff to make it combust.

This is complete decarboxilation. Removing all hydrogen and oxygen. Carbon vaporizes only when combusted. It's a slow process.

3 catalysts of combustion
Ignition, fuel, source (o2)

The o2 cannot be exchanged because of the extreme amounts of co2 beong released.

I think this is the misconception of decarboxilation. People think you are removing co2. In uncontrolled decarboxilation this is the case. You want carbon to stay put. What is releases is steam...h2o. You have to break these carboxyl groups by breaking down carbon chains with carboxylic acid and releasing h2o. That's why you should see steam but not smoke.

You need to seal the top to prevent combustion when decarbing weed...this is the point where co2 is released...aka vaporization.

When it gets to where it's almost done it looks shiney. Once done it looks like black glass. Here's mine right now. I will let that smolder off over night. You will end up yielding something short of half what you put in. As it cooks down you can add more if you choose. I added about another half gallon after it cooked for about an hour.

Here's how I charge this stuff. I simply mix equal amounts of worm castings or compost.

Bubble a compost and kelp slurry. Hang this in while you bubble inside of a paint strainer bag.

Take a pick. I like the natural culturing.

Anyway I burned myself and breathed in some lethal fumes while making this. Hope it helps someone out lol.

Always use Kevlar gloves. No need to stir or anything. That's how I got hit in the face with a cloud of toxic steam. I get burned every other day at work...nothing new. Guess I will just eat another hash cap.

Here it is finished and me charging. If you want sprinkle a little ground oats over the top and sprinkle some rain water and cap the lid.

I realize there is a bit of ash so i add a cup of pine bark fines to offset alkalinity.

You can get better yields and less ash if you watch it and only fill the turkey roaster or whatever about 2". I'm lazy. I allow this to sit for a few weeks anyway so the compost should even out the pH and you should have some potassium already loaded.

Dude I don't want to even know how many worms are in there at this point. I can't believe how fast they populated the reactors man. It looked like pine needles the swarms were so tight
