If its like the plant i had you will be very happy with the zooming up high. I find the phenos in original classics that were crossed can be much more like the original than a re worked version.

Beautiful plant and yeah i for sure see a ton of resemblance.

I honestly have really loved both of these strains. Even the haze is just really noble and majestic. Love the sativas.

So are they more obligation or necessity? More like work or showering?

Yeah it's an interesting relationship. Cause it's not like a pet, but it's not just "the crop" either imo. Idk. Stoned thoughts.

Personally I have been thinking a lot about a shepherd vs my desired relationship w plants as i find keepers etc. There's a man named James Rebanks who goes by the herdwick shepherd in twitter. Delightful man. His wife taught him to read after he got married and he became a NYT bestselling author. Amazing writer.

The way he talked about his sheep and his land and how he shaped it and considered it an inheritance to be a steward of (sorta, it's more nuanced than that), is really wonderful to toss in the ol brain.

Does anyone else look at old pictures and whenever they see a dog get sad for a moment because the dog has since definitely passed over the rainbow bridge?

Anyway yeah I'm with you.

That looks so stinky I can smell it thru the screen.

Where do you come down on the dirt v hydro camp as it pertains to terpenes? Organic v sterile?

I have no idea what's going on with that and so i do my best to leave it up to the plant. That means more organics and intake management both via a consistent saturation zone and nitrogen sources. My goal is for the plant to express terpenes as she would in the tropics because I know that's good.

But if a hydro person assures me they've got it then cool. I just don't know what they are talking about and haven't been able to figure it out when I see it explained.

More broadly: plants express more or less of the molecules that form terpenes according to some environmental factors for some reason. What factors are those and how does it work? Big shrug! Hypotheses!

So i try some triggers that seem reasonable (shade signalling, UV introduction, manipulation of the microbe population at the root level via the introduction of innoculation and various nutrition sources) and see what happens. Adjust densities wise (like I'm reaching for my glasses in the morning), not components wise (like I'm fixing a car).

When i say i don't know what hydro is talking about re terpene expression, i just mean idk what they are introducing to induce more terpene production and the hypothesis behind how it works.

May as well show the seedlings.....

And a cold sunset

Very pleased with two of the p haze seedlings (row nearest camera)..... Killer A5 Haze has had a slower start but will be okay I think...

It's very cool where they are, which is slowing them down, but I'm in no rush.

What place do your plants have in your life?

I find myself spending lots of time in my grow space. Noob here, however, I get a therapeutic and relaxing effect just from being in proximity. Smelling the maturing flowers brings me great calm and fulfilling feelings. The aromas, pride of cultivation, and lighting all have helped me through this low sun season a little easier at this point. Feb is rough for many.

Has there been studies of what benefits are available from being around living flowering plants alone, apart from consuming the plant after harvest? The stink in the room I find very alluring and uplifting.

Equestrian Therapy is very much a thing that calms... as with dog and cat ownership showing to lower blood pressure, stress, etc. Funny how these also have many many thousands of years in a sort of ‘symbiotic’ history with our species. Many growers say the addiction is growing, not smoking... maybe we just want to be around them...

Anywho, I finally read up to current today. Great info and planet. Cheers!

Wow, thanks so much for your super thoughtful reply! And for reading all this! And liking it! Ha :-)

I know there have been studies about plants and mental health generally. I do think the addition of not just the environment but the cultivation is an interesting aspect...I know this has also been studied....

But I really do think the cultivation of an intoxicant that alters the brain and therefore a user's reality is another thing psychologically altogether....

I find that I will often compulsively check on the plants....they are one of my happy places. Much like a used book store or library can be another one for me...I just enjoy being surrounded by life (in the case of books, the artifacts of consciousness....same as with a good art museum in a way but books get me better).

But that compulsion is definitely a little brain boost. Like it feels good on the ol' brain to feel the plant's growth. My wife (K) says during flu our plants' growth is the best evidence of time's passage. Because we both work from home and may as well be in a space ship for how much we get out.

Totally agree with the comparison with animals too. My sister definitely gets a ton of mental benefit from the time she spends with her (leased) horse. My birds and dog help keep what sanity I have relatively accessible when I am not Milsoning ;-)

Anyway, cheers again for the reply and the kind words! And especially for the February sympathy....it does help to know other people dislike it like I do!

Day 58...... lol. Figure she’s going to 120 days. She probably needs a bit of a clean up too, by the looks of things. Some droopy leaves to the bottom, maybe some over watering going on.
