Do you find it easier? I felt like dry weigh nutes were more natural for me, scales and I go weigh back hahahaha

And yes that was a pun

I used 5280 grams of 5-12-26 in 6 gallons of water and 3480 grams of cal/nitrate in 6 gallons of water.

@10 ml per gallon of each I get 850 ppm.

As a fellow jacks user I feel once it's dissolved you wouldn't get much if any fallout. Maybe give it a good shake.

Maximum solubility is 3 lbs per gallon of jacks hydro 5-12-26. No dropping out of solution worries here

You should bottle it with a fancy ass label and charge people like 100 bucks a gallon. Oh and water it down another 50 percent

I do agree organic veggies always seem just a lil bit sweeter:) Looks like I need to start growing more of my own food as well.

Tried to find the levels of toxic metals in this product, went to the common sites but no luck, have also contacted J.R peters to request a list of heavy metals for the hydroponic formula.

http://www.regulatory-info-uap.com/

anyone know of a better site to check ?

I did find a more detalied label for the two products, and have inluded them as a pdf download, you DesertS where you at:DView attachment 149094

This is quoted from the JR Peters Blog and it is also the same instructions sent with the fertilizer when shipped.
" To make 10 gallons of solution follow this formula: In 10 gallons of water, dissolve 1.3 ounces of 5-12-26, when that is totally dissolved add 1 tablespoon of Epsom salts for extra Magnesium and Sulfur. Finally add in .86 ounces of Calcium Nitrate. This will give you 150ppm of Nitrogen, which is the perfect rate for growing hydroponically."

Converting Oz's into grams gives us the following:
Jacks Pro Hydro 5-12-26 gram weight= 36.85 ( 1.3 Oz)
Calcium Nitrate 15-0-0 gram weight= 24.38 (.86 Oz)

Looking closer at the ratio between the two we can observe that there is a .661% difference. Or, for every 1 gram of Jacks you must mix .661 gram of Calcium Nitrate. (24.38/36.85= .661)

There it is, boom. If you mix the stock solutions according to that ratio by weight in grams - equal volume of each Jacks hydro and Cal/Nitrate will lock in the NPK ratio. This is our main goal.

And so I concentrated my stock solution making sure not to go over the 3 Lbs per gallon cap while keeping in mind what ppm I would achieve @ 10ml a gallon of each stock solution. You may choose to mix more or less into a stock solution depending on what you're mixing preferences are. Do you like hitting you're target ppm @ 10ml per gallon of each or 5ml of each?

*Important Note
I actually had to add 10 more grams of calcium nitrate to my stock solution (listed above) to achieve the .661 ratio correctly. I messed my initial calculations some how. Total cal/nitrate grams for my stock solution in 6 gallons of water = 3490

Also, my previous findings of 850 ppm when mixed @ 10ml per gallon each are incorrect when using the grams of each I listed above. I Believe it is 650-700 ppms.

Overall I am easily mixing my reservoirs now- no more waiting for salts to dissolve each time. I also check my solutions with a ppm meter when mixing. I have posted an equation in an older post that details how to mix according to ppm meter and I would advise following those guidelines if you are getting used to mixing reservoirs with stock solutions. Ya know, so you keep the ratio's the same in the rez just incase you slightly strayed from the .661 ratio some how.

More power to the people. Hope this helps.

Let's cut to heart of the matter. What we are trying to do with nutrients of any kind is to hit a pre-selected set of values in parts per million for each critical growth element. In other words, cannabis grows best with X ppm of Nitrogen, Y ppm of Phosphorus, Z ppm of Potassium, etc. etc. The numbers for desirable ppm of each element can be found in many growbooks. Simply staying within recommended ranges for ppm's will automatically coincide with those favorable ratios some posters suggest. I have been creating my own hydroponic cannabis blends since 1991 using soluble inorganic salts and I have refined it into a user friendly form. There is a vegetative formula and a flowering formula and they are not interchangeable. They are distinctly different blends and ratios. One of the characteristics of many store bought brands of nutrients is an ammonic vs. nitrate ratio that is out of whack. If the ammonic exceeds 25% of the total N ppm, then you will get those buds that do not burn well as well as brittle stems. Excess ammonic nitrogen is the biggest sin in growing that no one talks about.

Thanks for the reply, I just bought all the dry salts I will ever need, now I'm testing Jacks Hydro at the 3-2-1 with .005 most, on a tester white S1, just feed her this mix again this morning, so far the plant looks killer, I'm also going to be testing in on a few plants, from cloner-VEG-Flower, and see how it does, so far the one plant is doing great, super fast growth. When your in flower are you using the Bloom Booster by jacks ? or you just using the Hydro, Cano3

So far I have only done veg growth with jacks and I can say I'm very satisfied with what I see. My plan is to only use JPH and cal/nit the entire way through flower. Im a fan of balance in the hydroponic universe of fertilizer salts and in my setup I plan to push the .661 (ratio by wieght) balance to its maximum before I decide on diverting from it. If I do anything, I'll drop the cal/nit by 10% towards the last week of flower.

If you want more p or k in the root zone then increase the concentration.

3.0 grams/ gal of hydro comes out to 680 ppm on a .7 conversion = .97 EC
1.0 grams of epsom salt comes out to 120 ppm= .17 EC
1.8 grams of cal nitrate comes out to 330 ppm =.47 EC

This was all measured after I added each to 100 gallons of demineralized (RO) water in the order above, and waiting for EC to stabilize before adding each additional part.

Total EC using demineralized (RO) water= 1.61

I measured it all out with my triple beam to the tenth of a gram.

As it turns out:

1/8 tsp of hydro = 1 gram
1/8 tsp of CaNO3= .9 grams
1/8 tsp of epsom = .5 grams

Wow. This took me all night to figure out and I'm tired as fuck with multiple windows open in safari and an excel spreadsheet going from canna stats- but I think I've got it. First off, I've just begun to open this can of worms called nutrient profiles and thats a whole other thing. Secondly, thank you cap! You just won a whole bunch of rep from me and you are now the forum poster of the month by my decree! Thirdly, I would like to fire the JR peters associate that would use tablespoon for measuring epsom salts and grams for Jacks Hydro and Cal/Nit in a nutrient mixing instruction.

I was trying to figure out how to add magnesium sulfate in a stock solution to my reservoirs according to ppm alongside my Jacks Hydro and cal/nitrate. And this buried post in this thread had the exact detail I was looking for.
How much does a tablespoon of magnesium sulfate weigh? Well, according to caps calculations it would be 12 grams-
Holy shit is that too much to ask for JR peters? And thanks again cap.

Lets plug this in. Correct me if I'm wrong, its late.
According to a .5 conversion factor (because I have a blue lab and I'm american #merica) and using the details outlined above:
Hydro @ .97 EC= 485 ppm
Epsom Salts @ .17 EC = 85 ppm
Cal/Nit @ .47 EC= 235

Golden Piece of info for the night:
Observing the difference between Jacks Hydro ppm and Epsom Salts ppm ( 85/485=.17)

To determine how much epsom salt stock solution to dissolve into a reservoir by ppm so that it stays within ratio with other elements regardless of concentration of solution use this handy equation.

X= ppm of Jacks Hydro
M=ppm of epsom salts

(X)(.17)=M

I'll come back to this later and wrap up mixing stock solutions into reservoirs, and it will include all three Hydro, Cal/nit, and Magnesium sulfate stock solutions.
