Governor Jerry 'moonbeam' brown signed legislation wedneday that removed the march 1st deadline for cities to ban or fall under state control,it was actually added as a mistake(lol),better late than never.

Totally with you in theory, however my county passed some pretty nice laws. I will be allowed 72 plants for personal use, and they are discussing commercial licencing. Seem to me like my local government is implementing the will of the local people. Just how I like my government.

And mine? Only one person showed up who was anti-cannabis, but the BOS still went with a more restrictive ordinance.

I expect to see prices going up, too. You're allowed to grow what you can for yourself, but if you plan on moving any 'excess' you're going to need to be licensed, either by your county or by the state. Most local munis aren't allowing this structure to be set up in *any* form. Those who are are already experiencing a surge in land prices (Desert Hot Springs for example), and should soon enjoy the tax income.

The rest of us? Are fucked. You folks who think CCHI is going to get on the ballot need to light a fire under the organizers' asses. I can't even sign online, let alone in person. So right now it's looking like the only measure to go on the ballot is the one sponsored by that anti-cannabis doc, I can't recall his name offhand. Then we'll REALLY be screwed.

I have fallen out of knowledge on this stuff. My brother was involved in a group, but he said everything changed once funding got involved. So he dropped out of helping and that movement deteriorated.

Anybody heard of the State of Jefferson? I know it's right wing based, but might be an answer?

Yes, I know a good bit about it. Their flag, the two x's, symbolize that they got double-crossed. So they're self-identifying BOTH as victims and as idiots. Many of them seem to be anti-cannabis and NIMBYs as well. They have no idea how they're gonna pay for anything. They have no idea how government really works, let alone the fact that government is us. Morons.

While CCHI lists places to sign and people to contact locally, this info is not up to date. If you call one of the phone numbers on there site you may find something local. They do seem a little slow but that is because they are 100 percent grassroot organization and funded completely with out sponcers , just donations from plane folks.

Well, this seems to be a sore subject for you, and I am not that involved, so I don't mean to piss anybody off. You seem to miss the point of the movement, IMO, and the movement didn't seem to have anything to do with roads.

In 1941 they started their own state and had even elected their own governor. Then the war started and everybody got behind that. The reason for the movement however was clearly stated:

"By 1941 the dream was sparked when certain counties in California and Oregon decided that they were not being fairly represented by Sacramento and Salem. This was a region that earned a living off the lumber, fishing, and other harvesting businesses in the area and they felt the government was not distributing infrastructure funding equally to the area. Mainly, poor road quality and lack of bridges made it difficult to earn a living in this remote area. They wanted to break away and form their own state to improve their lifestyles by governing themselves with their own laws."

Which I agree with, but don't know all the in's and outs of what Jefferson would look like. I do agree the rural areas of California don't get the proper representation because of the money and political power in the cities. I also believe the motivation of many politicians not getting behind the cannabis movement is because of political consequences in Sacramento. I believe some of our rural politicians wouldn't have as much pressure if Sacramento wasn't involved.

Anyways, even if the movement caught wind, it would take 5-10 years anyway. Moot point I suppose.

I see a lot of divides in this country. When you go west of the Mississippi It`s a whole different world, again when you are west of the Rocky Mountains. The people in the North ,East, South and West all have different ideas, concerns and opinions. They deal with different issues. Washington D.C. is a whole different thing. They have know idea what is going on in America at all. I see California as large and very different from North to South. We can`t even agree on where the middle is! My self I see no reason why most of the country wants to stay together. The problem lies with Washington D.C. who would want it ?

Mr Castle, having lived in the deep south, the west, and both northern and southern California I must respectfully disagree. I didn't realize we had the same racist types out west as I lived with down there. We do, in spades, and many of them support this BS. The real differences in our state lie between two coastal cities and everywhere else. And I'm going to get in touch with the fellow who pulled the Amador county numbers on 215. 43% voted in favor. I have a strong feeling the numbers in these other rural counties are close to that as well. Which should then force all who are in favor of something like this state (which doesn't represent Jefferson at all) to reconsider the entire notion.

I won't blame D.C., because to reiterate, the government is us. I have a representative, and he's very responsive and surprises me regularly. Tom McClintock (I got to meet him a few years ago, unfortunately at a military funeral). I suggest everyone get to know their representatives as intimately as possible, and if possible, pay them a visit. Putting a face to a name can do some amazing things.

Folks may support the notion of yet another state, but I suggest learning how it all started and figuring out another way to identify yourselves. Not to mention, having a mother and family living in a U.S. territory that wants statehood, but cannot enact it either, I say good luck with that (and these folks don't even have to contend with the laws and court decisions that do things like label them "aliens" or disallow them the liberty of a passport or make bringing basic goods in an incredibly expensive proposition, crippling in fact). I don't see it going anywhere. It hasn't since the 30s, it hasn't since the 40s, it won't now. Living where and how I do now, seeing that it can be absolutely impossible to get 24 neighbors together to pay to maintain a road WE ALL USE, I don't see Jefferson getting any farther. And I ask again, how do *any* of them propose to pay for anything, including their infrastructure? Much of the space involved is federally owned land, which means it's actually owned by all of us. They rely on grazing permits and stuff like that, which is an infrastructure I personally want to seen broken down and dismantled. I feel we're artificially supporting beef in this country and the costs are too high.

But, that's a huge, huge digression from the current and pertinent issue--local bans on cultivation.

Edit: A map of California county voting pass/fail Proposition 215. Just looking at the map I'd say the majority of the state voted against it.

Well that "seemed" a little more informed, and a lot less hate.

They will pay for the roads the same way every other state does. If Jefferson did exist, it would be the 16 smallest state population wise. How does Montana with a population of 1.1 million pay for roads in the third largest state? Because they don't use California's horrible model. Same with Jefferson, if your main concern is roads, that is super easy to overcome......What about roads seems so hard for you?

The rural counties of Jefferson already have a tax income of 209,000,000. Plenty for roads, and frankly, a pointless argument.

BTW - The federal government doesn't own any of that land. They manage it with the request of the state. If the feds aren't welcome, out they go. It's BLM land, being managed, but the federal government does not own that land. The federal government is only allowed to own 10 square miles in Washington D.C. and ports. That's it, they own nothing in the state of Jefferson's proposed areas.

No offence, but both arguments against the state of Jefferson you bring up, are really easily overcome.

As for a representative, Tom is ok. I have talked with him on several different occasions in person. However, I personally feel he lobbies the interests of the big cities 100 times before anything of rural importance is addressed. Hence the reason for a state of Jefferson. The state of Jefferson doesn't want to succeed from the USA, the founders love the USA. They just want a bigger voice. They just want to separate from Sacramento and Salem and remain part of the USA. If your using the word succeed, your not using the right word. I will define at the bottom of the post.

Think about it, look on the east coast, in the same amount of land you have New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, D.C., West Virginia, Virginia, North Carolina, Carolina, Georgia, and part of Tennessee in the same geological footprint. Each state gets to represent their people, just broken down into more voices for the people. Nobody in their right mind would argue these states don't have the ability to build roads, why in the state of Jefferson?

So I believe Jefferson has no issues paying for roads, that is simple. They are not trying to succeed from anything. They just want a bigger voice, in smaller geographical areas, just like the east coast does. Doesn't seem evil or stupid to me..... In fact, I think it would be smart, and the money from cannabis once legal would stay in the communities that generate that money. That 209mil a year income would turn into the billions. We could have gold roads.

Why on earth would you believe her? She has her phone number and address posted on her facebook pics like a dummy. I called her to ask her why she is censoring free speech. I did NOT threaten her. She threatened me! She is only telling her half of the story.

Obviously she represents the shop owners and the people supporting "legalization" so that their shops can have a monopoly and force out the caregivers who are competing with them. I make a comment demonizing dispensaries and then all of a sudden she blocks me and send me a message accusing me of being a cop. Politely explaining to her that I wasn't a cop didn't work. That's when I became hostile.

My goal is to militantly protest anybody who favors the kind of ultra regulation that has destroyed the cottage industry in both Colorado and Washington.
