When you use these auto watering bases that have wicks, do you still need to water to runoff every day?

How does that then work?

Just trying to figure out a system so I can use these bases!

I know that otherwise, I’m watering to runoff like once or twice a day.

Any incite would be great!

I’m going to keep an eye on this, I’m germinating a couple now that I’m planning on doing exactly that. Coco Loco on a wicking base. I’ve had wonderful results with an auto in Happy Frog on a wicking base. That girl is starting week and no problems. I’m running Foop nutes and feed on the top, pH’d water on the bottom, with occasional top water (just a touch).

I am spending more time on the road for work lately, and these wicking bases have helped me out so much. Also part of the reason I only have one plant in my tent. But, in 6 weeks, I’ve not seen any real issues pop up.

I’m finding out just how hard it is to keep the wicks and what not clean enough so that the pH and even EC doesn’t drift! It’s kind of mind boggling to check on the res after a couple days and it’s gone from 6.0 to 7.2 and from an EC of 2.4 to 1.7!!

Starting to make hand watering sound not that bad ha ha ha.

this is where i like autopots much more. As i'm sure you know it keeps a separate res and sends in new solution as needed. these wicking style ones have it all together so the ec will be ever changing . I have some of them and just use them to catch runoff for my drain to waste plants.
