I believe Event is directing him to open up his plant with scrogging to get as many tops as possible
this is a perfect technique for low budget lights with very little depth penetration
allowing many tops to recieve max light
the longer you veg and train
will allow for more tops

Yea COB would definitely be the way to go for him heat wise but wouldn't a 250w COB be quite a bit more expensive than an open hood 250w HPS? Honestly I'm torn between going with CMH or doing a DIY COB setup for my next upgrade..

I knew that he was going to scrog just wasn't sure if that would've been too much veg time still.. I know RDWC is a totally different system (which is why i said i have no soil experience haha..) but i veg'd my last round for 4 weeks from clone and there was probably 3' of unusable growth/stem under the scrog canopy.

I dont use tents. I use rooms. But you could point it into a tent to foliar feed or spray insecticides or just to raise the rh. It can be used outside the tent also. I also plan on using mine in the yard for skeeters. I will use it in my house in the winter to raise rh a little. Sprays disinfectants, deodorizers and fragrances. I might put it on a humidistat in my veg/clone room to keep the rh perfect.

I never was much for rmols lsting,
but that style is perfect for him!
So you and me already seen exactly what Im pushing him to do..
Mainlining and lst...

After this grow, and his success,
I push him to coco,
1 gal pots.
and sog,,,
and hopefully he can get a light just like yours..
Honestly, all these self proclaimed, I just do it for personal :)
should just imitate your setup to a T!
Nutes and all...
They could start theirs exact same time, everything day by day.....same!

I of course have bigger aspirations,
so im reaching for the stars..

so here is the difference

so with HPS they are only between 20-30% efficient. Meaning you take 250w x .3=75w
that means 175w is pure heat directed straight towards the plant

with LED are between 50-60% effecient so if you took a 200w x 60% =120w meaning you would literally be getting double the watts of usable light with 50 less watts
another thing is led's disperse heat differently
as led cobs get hot which is absorbed by the heatsink and directed in the opposite direction as the plant so it may create heat but not in the fashion as a heat lamp

yes LED may be more expensive but a 4 cob 200w fixture will cover more area

or aside from COB's
you can get a Spectrum King Closet Case 100w that I have seen many people kill it with
as a matter of fact it is a little more expensive but a Spectrum King would fit perfect into his layout

I totally agree, after looking for 250w HID kits it would be way more worth it to go with COB lights.. The reflector is cheap and bulb is cheap for the HID but once you add the ballast its almost the same price as going with the COBs..

No one here has any experience with CMH/LEC lights??

well they put out quite a bit of heat too from the one I felt at the hydro shop.
and its only 315 watts... I think 2 of them x a 600 watt mh isnt that much diff in heat but thats just from checking it out at the grow shop..
I think I might get to rent one in the future for a bloom run..
I think it would be an awesome veg light
Its an awesome light all the way around...
but you need to vent them too...
