I've been thinking on this one myself, as a cage for deturing theft, and making my grow totally legal for my state.

They typically run under $40 a panel. 16' long X 50" high. Of course you'd need 6, 4" post's, and 6" header board down the middle to support the piched roof. Just cut a section of fence out for the door. Use chain to secure the door. Unless u wanna get fancy and weld hinges to it. 🤔

Looking at cost, I could probably build one for less than a grand. It'll give me peace of mind from theft and harsh weather, and the benefit of full sun and in ground grows. Let alone...the law giving me any flack. 😁

It's in my wheelhouse, just not blueprinted, and priced out, yet.

Words of caution. That size cp won’t get you much height even at center. It’s fine for starters but not giant plants. This has a 2X12 pt base and still has only just at 6’ in center.

Yours looks like mine right now, more storage and less grow. But we cleaned off a storage rack in the garage and I moved some seed starting, potting soil and pots to it so I don't have to walk through snow to get to it.

We mostly use the shop now for our starters. But we started cleaning it up just the other day. It looked a lot worse 😅 🤣 and we also use the half hoop on the back porch too. We didn’t get around to building the new last year. We’ll see if it happens this year.🤷‍♂️

Actually I'm looking at two panels high 100" or 8'4" on sides and end.

If u cut the end panels shorter than the sides, it'd allow u a pitched roof

It'd be like this

I'm not looking to enclose the whole thing, just the roof for storms during late flower. I want the air moving thru, not the rain. A dome would defeat the space I have available, this would be about 10' at its highest point

What if you/we end up with a week of on and off rain in the Fall? If you put a roof on to keep out the rain, the humidity will build up. You'd have to have open ends/sides and maybe fans and some heat of some kind. Cold and rain together are our enemies.

Tho' it looks temporary, @tall boys last year had a workable 'tent' for his plants and managed to get them finished. He took the tarp off when it wasn't raining. Can't figure how to embed the pic.

A pvc frame and cattle panels. And you can get a fitting to build about anything you want

How’s he like the laser welder. I’ve been looking into them. I have a mig welder, but laser looks pretty good.

I got my stick welder when the frame on the mower " look what happened " got broke.
It was cheaper than the quote I got to weld it.
My wife is very hard on lawn and garden equipment.
Gave up on deck outrigger wheels....

It's a very handy skill to have. My Dad used a stick welder to build a trailer that carried the boat he built, then after the boat was toast, lots of other things too. 🙂

It'd be made totally from cattle fencing. Basically a cage built over my garden. And yes, like tallboy, with roll up cover, but only over the roof so I can keep air moving.

If winds are going to be strong, I can always attach tarps to the sides it's coming from, keeping rain from entertaining that way.

It's not the cold that bothers me here, it's the humidity and rain we typically have in late September early October. On average the second week in October, makes or breaks ya, here. Usually by third week the weather breaks into a Indian summer kinda thing that can last till November. So it's all about those first two weeks of October I have to deal with. Most guys end up loosing most of their stuff to rot, mostly those growing big fat colas.

Guy I know had a beautiful crop going in 2024. Big fat forearm size colas. Rained 3 days straight, no wind, then clouds and no sunshine the rest of the week. Lost all of it to bud rot. Sad part...rest of month into mid Nov was perfect. So it's a hit and miss two weeks. It's more about being totally legal, 1st and protecting my investment, 2nd

But that's why I've spent lots of time researching cultivars suited better for my climate. The cage is financially out of my hands at the moment, but never off the board.

I hate October. Not for the weather, but it's the month I associate the most, with death. I've lost most of my friends and family in this month, over the years
Even had my own heart attack in this month. ( Survived a real widowmaker) Cardiologist still trying to figure out how I survived it.

Too much weed....so little time.🤣🤣
