Put an ad on Craigs list for a vintage airstream trailer, asking $5,000.00. Got a responce and they sent a check for $12,000.00 sold sight unseen.
Iam supposed to cash the check and send them the remaining $7,000.00.
How stoned or stupid do they think Iam?
The check will bounce and iam out 12k.....No way jose....

man thats all they are, whether youre looking for a job, buyin somethin, sellin something, even tryin to get your dong wet you got people blowin you up for NO REASON.

i wish they could stop that somehow... its really frustrating, especially looking for a job.

Sounds like a real beauty, wish I had the cash. Unfortunately CL is just about worthless for this reason.

Exactly what I mean. It's a great concept but wading through the bullshit just isn't worth it.

dude they want you to deposit the check so they can start accessing your account. do not give them any personal information at all. if it's too good to be true, it normally is.

The check trick they tryed to pull on my brother was a good one. They called and said you won $50K and we are going to send you a check. They send like $5k check with a nice package that looks like you won money. They call back and say go cash the check and send us $2500 to process the rest of your money. Thing was the check was real and the bank even said it was good and he could cash it right there and walk out with the money. Turns out the check was stolen from a big company and they just didnt figure it out yet. If he would have cashed it the bank would have came after him for the $. Lucky he didnt, alot of other people did and got screwed. The people who did it got away, They work fast sending out all the checks at once and taking what cash they could get right away.

My parents are getting up there in age. About a year ago someone called them saying they were their grandson (my nephew) and he needed 3gs for bail money but not to tell his parents. My folks fell for it.

The only good thing that came from that was that my nephew was psyched to know that if he ever ended up in jail, my folks would bail him out without telling his folks!

Gotta look for that silver lining I guess.

Unfortunately this is becoming a very popular scam with seniors. An elderly woman here was just in the local news after being taken for 6k from the same exact scam.

Send him a Hot Wheels Airstream, tell him its a collectible and laugh the whole time. I know this would cost you some money but it would be funny. You could also sign up for all kinds of mailers and use this guys name and address.

I love CL...for buying and selling and free stuff and bartering. Ya do have to beware but no biggy. Deal with cash on the barrel-head and you have zero problems.

I have heard that ebay has tried to buy CL out..for millions! No wonder.

I bought this ass on craigslist and it turned out to be a fake... DAMN YOU CRAIGSLIST SCAMMERS!
