I dried my last crop for 8 days at 55% rh and 66-68°F. I did a wet trim and a dry trim, the wet trim I only got rid of large leaves, hung them by individual branch, and left them alone for 8 days. Some of the branches snapped, some didn’t, but they felt dry enough that they could retake their shape after pressing hard without leaving my hand super sticky, so I jarred them up. I got tiny hygrometers and 62 humidity packs. Some hygrometers are reading as low as 44% while some as high as 54%. They were jarred up wednesday morning and now around 20 hours later it’s reading that they are way over dried. I was gonna smoke test it tonight after work but seems concerning low. Last grow I hung up all 4 plants entirely, and it took about 2.5 weeks to dry to the point they feel now. Not sure if I should try to rehydrate them or give them some time. I also messed up and ordered quart sized mason jars instead of half gallon. I filled up all 12 quart sized and took a half gallon from my previous crop for the rest. All dried the same amount of time, and the good hygrometer I have for curing can only fit in the half gallon container. That reads 55% rh. Not sure what to do, only my 2nd cure. Is it really this over dried? Every where I look it’s rare to have a quick drying process with those drying conditions. The temp is a bit high, but I needed to use a seedling heating mat to bring humidity down since it was at 70%

Once the RH gets below about 55%, curing stops, re-hydrating won't re-initiate curing, but will get you less crispy bud.

My question is that since it was freshly jarred could this be the actual humidity in the jars? From touch I can feel that there is enough moisture to give my fingers that sticky feeling. Would it be easy to tell if it truly is that dry?

Sticky has little to do with water content, that’s THC and terpenes. THC and terps don’t have a lot of water in them, and most terps and THC are not water soluble. They will eventually lose their stickiness as the oils volatilize. Whatever the RH reads in the jar, is what it is. Unless the meter is out of calibration.

What if the rh has climbed above 55% rh in all of the jars after being jarred for a day and a half? Is this just the humidity packs bringing moisture to the jar or could it be that the hygrometers are poor quality and just needed time to be accurate? They were 10/10$. From what I understand, low humidity can kill off the good things in the jar so it’s not like humidity rising will somehow revive it all. Should I just leave them curing and wait and see?

It's probably the humidity packs, but I really wouldn't worry too much, it took a couple weeks of drying/curing to get to this point, leave everything jarred up it'll be fine.
