To add, water is so brown and cloudy i can't see into the res. Ph rises from 5.7 to 6.4 in 8 hours. Does the ag fungicide create browning like this when good colonies form? @Aqua Man

Yikes, definitely some type of root rot. Not too late to fix if you can figure out the cause. Light leaks into res, warm water?

Water is at about 72-74 rn. Also I rinsed and all the brown came out. As for light leaks i can't see where. Maybe through the hydroton? But everything else is covered

Tbs of the great white. About 1.5ml of the ag. And I put about 10 drops of the enzymes in a day. Also think I'm doing res change tomorrow cause I figured out we were reading the lot number wrong on the hydroguard. First 5 numbers are the formula code. Then its product line. Then its last digit of year which is 0. So 2020. Then I think it was January 11th 2020 was manufacturing date. So im going to try to use that and the enzymes for a cleaner res at least instead of all the browning making so much confusion

Well I did a res change today on the big one. While changing the res I put plant into another bucket with just some room temp tap and the enzymes komplete. Some dead roots fell off in the bucket. I went back to the hydroguard because it looked better with it. I just used alot. 18ml for my 3gallon res. I cleaned the res out with bleach and let the airstones sit in it for a few minutes also. Only doing the one res today since im using ro water and its a pain to refill (using zero water filters) also wanted to note that after cleaning roots, they always smell like fresh cut cucumber, is that normal root smell or still rot?

Have to be careful of using to much. I usually use half the dosage recommended. Hydrogaird no more than 4 ml per gal.

The AG FUNGICIDE no more than 1 ml per 20 gal. So you may need to dilute it first before adding

I might just say fuck it and skip the whole bens and go sterile adding clorax bleach. Only thing I have questions about if I do that is what cant I use if I do that? Will it kill my rapid start that I add for root growth?

I would look at it this way. Be a minimalist and only use what you need. Make it less complicated not more.

Use 1 ml per 20 gal of AG fungicide OR use Great white as directed then use half dose of komplete.

Zero water is not pure RO water.
The ZeroWater filter contains ion-exchange resin and activated carbon. ZeroWater relies on the interaction between the ion-exchange resin and your tap water to make filtered water with zero conductivity. The TDS reading of 0 you see when you use a ZeroWater filter means the water has no electrical resistivity or conductivity. It doesn’t mean the water is contaminant-free.

Reverse osmosis systems are multi-stage filtration systems that use sediment, activated carbon block, and granular activated carbon prefilters before the reverse osmosis element or semi-permeable membrane. Your tap water is forced through the 0.0001-micron membrane. 0.0001 micron is equivalent to 0.00000004 inches. This tiny micron size is the reason reverse osmosis removes everything from your tap water, including essential minerals such as calcium and magnesium.

Zero tap filters leave some stuff behind.

Okay that being said, should I just start adding bleach and say fuck live res? Cause I'm in an apartment so don't see me being able to get one

Tap water already has chlorine and or chlorine in it. In my RDWC I only used tap, you need to just get your stuff dialed in. Honestly a rule for anything I use thats new is to use half the amount... this goes for everything. Then increase if you need.

In terms of RO or Zero water that exactly what you want is to remove the ppm. I dont believe for the most part in the contaminants in tap water other than chlorine and chloramine which are limited to 4ppm by law and usually between 1-2ppm

My tap here is over 300ppm and has floride in it. And someone told me floride is not good for your plants. So thats why I went with the zero water filters

Yeah nothing wrong with that but mix tap 1 part and Zero water 2 parts to get a starting ppm of 100ish or your ph will be all over.

IMHO your doing to much to fast. To many changes all at once. Plants like stability so keep it simple

My only other question will be why did my big res get all the brown in roots but the small one which got the same amount of the benes actually looks to be beating the root and I still haven't changed that res.

What my plan would be.

Buy 1 gal of distilled water. Add 1 ml of AG fungicide to 20 ml of distilled water. You now have a stock solution to add 1 ml per gal. NO CHANGES THIS MUST BE DISTILLED WATER.

Then take 1 gal of tap water add nutrients to the 1 gal of tap water as per the directions at full strength. Then add 2 gal of Zero water. This will give you a 1/3 strength solution. Im going to guess around 400ppm. This will also give you close to an ideal alkalinity to help keep a stable ph. We can tinker to dial it in more after if needed.

Then add pH down to 5.6-5.8 and monitor the drift of 24hrs. 0.2-0.3 is ideal.

Then add 3 ml of you stock solution of AG fungicide.

Then add half dose on komplete.

Or use the great white instead of the southern AG

Then do nothing but top ups as needed the rest of the week unless root rinsing is needed. It takes time bro, just have to slow down stick to a plan and let it give you results. Don't deviate from it.

Roots may looks worse before they get better. But honestly if you keep switching things up and changing the plants are likely not to make it. Root rot is a thing many cant recover from but I'm telling ya stick to it and you will beat it. Of course I can't guarantee you but I have helped more than a few ppl beat it. Your plants aren't that bad and I have 0 doubt you can beat this.

Plus look at how much you are learning from this... that info and learning while frustrating is invaluable and will make you a better grower

Alright was just about to go to store. I'll pick up the water. Going to see how the res works until tomorrow since I just changed this morning. If no improvement going to change and do that. I will then change my res of the smaller one on Monday since that's been doing pretty good and its do for one then. Thanks so much
