Just wondering what your thoughts are on dehumidifiers, what to look for in a good brand, horror stories etc...

If you have it all on the line and a bigger room, dont skimp get a Santa Fe, expensive but well worth it and one of the best investments in your growroom that you can make.......

The new Ideal Air units are pretty good and move a lot of air. They are also cheaper than the Santa Fe units. I had a Sante Fe Unit before and they work, but the price is a bit high side.

I have an new Ideal Air- I think it's a 40 pint unit or so. It works well, and it lowered my humidity the last 2 weeks of flowering quite a bit, down to the mid 40's running non stop.

Ive gone through 2 cheap ass Active Air's from hydrofarm. They dont last and are not worth it. In fact they are absolute crap. Ive learned my lesson. Im lucky that the dudes at my hydro store have become my friends so they are cool about letting me return the dehumidifiers. They come with a one year warrenty, and with hard use you are lucky to get a year out of them so far with my experience.

When I first saw the price of the Santa Fe I swallowed hard and realized that it is a quality piece of equipment and worth it. I will be buying one very soon....if your space is small you might want a different unit that costs less.

Well I suggest if ya have a Sears Store close by have a look see there , If not look on line . The nice thing about Sears is you can buy the 5 year warranty fairly cheap & then if the fecker shits out on ya go in to Sears & pick up a new replacement one on the spot . Hell the feckers might even be on sale , Good Luck ,,,

Winix is a very good model and always ranked high. I have a 110 pint in a 120sqft Solexx greenhouse and the Winix barley breaks a sweat!

just picked up a delonghi @ costco. built in pump, 50 pint, for $180 or something. nice piece.

also got a couple ideal air 100 pints for another project. nice pieces as well. they come with wall brackets even and are auto start.

Depending on your room and grow style, you may not need a $1k plus dehumidifier. You also have to factor in your cooling: a minisplit pulls out a lot of water from the air compared to a central air unit or portable ac unit.

In my soil and DWC rooms, a Home Depot $250 70 pint unit works fine.

I agree go to Sears and get the 70 pint units. I had a Santa Fe compact 70 pint unit and hated it so bad I sent it back, for the price I spent on that p.o.s. I could have 4 of the units I use now. And the cheaper units have pumps in them to drain the water away from the unit. None of that gravity drain shit. I think the brands frigidaire and kenmore are the better ones.

Thanks for all the advice guys, I went with a 70 pint frigidaire, its kicking ass, but needs to be emptied often. Does anybody just drain their dehumidifiers back into their reservoirs?

Should be straight up clean water, right? i have seen people pipe their runoff into their R/O rez.

I would think so but, the manual says the water is not potable...whats up with that?

Hell yes you can run your dehumidifier water back into your rez. That's the only way to do it. Kind of like venting hot air from your grow into your living room during the winter to avoid a higher gas/electric bill. Ultimate recycling.

All the air(fungus, bacteria, shit) runs over those fins and people want to collect in and put it in their rez. Maybe if I lived in a Dune environment. JK
I have Kenmore's, recommend Sante fe's.

Plus you likely have copper in there, or other metals, along with solder exposures... all bleeds into the waste water. Mostly, it wasn't designed to create clean, drinkable water, so they have to put warning labels on em... liability issue.
