They look good to me. I wouldn't increase the N and risk over doing it, I like to give them half bloom half veg nutes for the first 10 days after the flip. It's always hard to tell from pictures but I don't see them wanting for anything and it would be a shame to mess things up at this point because of advice from others. I can't speak for max and MGG but to clarify a little, I wasn't suggesting to give them more N then you have been I was trying to say I don't cut it out as much with the afg as I do with other strains at this point. Sorry if it was unclear.

Is this a male preflower?

Is this a male preflower?

Well, it's kind of spear shaped, so that's a good thing. Male preflowers will develop into a "ball", which is more rounded, then additional "balls" will form. Having said that...I've seen them look just like yours and go either way. Bottom line is, it's a bit too soon to say for sure yet, but she'll be showing you for sure very soon. Good luck! Hope ya get all fems!

Yeah, I agree...I wouldn't go overboard either! I was just reading an article by Kyle Kushman on his blog talking about transitional feeding. He suggests full veg nutes for the first week of flip, then 50-50% veg/bloom nutes the next week. Depending on how the strain is responding, you then go to full bloom nutes from that point on. I agree you have to run some N in bloom. Sometimes I'll run a little N in every other feed. Again...depends n what the plant is saying.

I take in everyone's opinion and do best to pick and choose best techniques to use . Thanks OG ill keep doing what iv been doing. Watch the plants. They will tell me what they want.

That's a good thing to do, and how everybody develops their own style. However...just be careful because sometimes mixing techniques can lead to disaster! Just try to think things through before doing anything you haven't tried before, and always ask for opinions. There's usually always time to get opinions and advice before doing anything. There are very very problems that won't wait a few hours or even a day. I guess what I'm trying to say is "measure twice and cut once"! Always good advice!

So some of my roots are growing put of the pots. This is normal for these pots and won't harm the plant right?

And my temps are getting low at night due to the cold weather coming. Should I install a floorboard heater?

That's what you want from those pots, the roots will die of or air prune outside the pot it keeps the plant from getting root bound. How cold is it getting at night? If you are going to grow out there all winter you will probably have to insulate and install a heater if its already getting cold in your area. How much longer until you flip?

I just installed a 4 foot 1000watt 3.1 amp baseboard heater and thermostat just now. I noticed they really grow fast at a steady 82-84 degreese. Yeah this will be my permenent grow room. I'll be adding insulation and plywood for the ceiling next year. I just fed them there last water before I flip. I'll be flipping in 4 days or so

I just flipped 5 of the afgX and 3 white widows on Sunday. It will be interesting to see how much they differ from each other. The 5 I have going are clones of the 1 I chose to use out of 25 seeds but I haven't seen it in flower yet.

Looking good DD.. I too would prefer a comfy 76 compared to 56 degrees!.. lol.. They look great bro..

Hey DD...lookin' great man! It's gonna be the amazon in there soon! I was gonna give you my take on your questions, but OG gave you the same answers I would've. I will say that I think the book's recommended temp is a tad low. IME, mine do best and grow fastest from 78-82f during lights on. I bump it up from there if supplementing CO2. You said yours had been doing good at around 82-ish. I'd pay more attention to what you see firsthand, moreso than what you read in the books. I've got literally dozens of books on my shelves and they all say something different! Haha. Not all the info I've read in the books has proved out in real life for me. YMMV. As a general rule tho, I'd move forward on new things you read about slowly until you see how it's going to do.

As for your night time temps, I'd be more worried about the overall SWING in temps right now. Soon it'll be cold enough to harm the plants but you're still a little while off from that. You really don't want your temps to have more than a 15 - 20 degree difference in the day and night temps tho. Less is better.

Again man...they're looking super! Great job!!

Best,

Max :wacky:

Your room is looking really good too! That's going to be a nice permanent area for you. If it were my space, I'd line the floor and walls with Panda plastic...for a couple of reasons. First, the white plastic will reflect allot of light that you are losing into the wood. With the floros, it's important to use all the available light, and right now, you're losing allot. Also, the wood is a porous surface and will hold moisture and pathogens. There's no way to sterilize it between grows. (That's not important on your first couple of runs, but can be a big issue right down the road). The plastic is easy to keep clean, and will not hold/grow bad bugs. It's also a relatively inexpensive way to finish your room. Again, man...nice room and grow!

Yeah that stuff is a bit $$ I checked it out at my local grow shop one day and they wanted a dollar a foot. Kinda insane if u ask me

It's not cheap...but as a floor covering...a buck a foot ain't bad. If you buy it by the roll, you can find it easily for about $7/foot. To me, it would be worth it for the increase in light, and the peace of mind knowing that the wood isn't holding moisture and harboring mold! :stop:

I wrapped my walls an cieling in it about 6 years ago in a 15x8 room with about 3/4 of a roll for $100 and haven't had to replace it yet, I didn't do the floor because its concrete. It makes cleaning between grows simple. I put bleach and water in a pump sprayer and spray everything. It makes disinfecting between grows take about 2 hours. It's cheaper then drywall and after you staple it up you're done.
