I am also looking to possibly relocate for a new position in either CO, WA, or CA. Anyone here recently move or have anything nice to say about your state?

I currently live in a place full of snow so I'm kinda leary about CO. Although last time I was in CO 2006 I really liked it (summer though), random people there were generally nice and not dicks like in MN.
Maybe it's changed with the influx of new residents but I sure hope not.

WA Pacific Northwest is beautiful but other than that all I know is the winters are dreary but I don't know much about the culture. Guessing it's a lot more of a youthful techy green crowd I could be wrong.

California wins hands down in weather, but seems expensive. Do you find it over crowded? Any really nice warm places that have trees and aren't dessert? Southern California would be I'm sure nice, I've lived around trees all my life so the dessert might kinda be strange. I honestly want to stay the hell away from "the hood". Watched too many episodes of gangland.

P.S. Lemme know if anyone knows of any legit careers in the industry in one of your states. Whether it would be wholesale products or running/ working for a dispensary. I am not a 16 year old high school kid. I've previously managed a million+ worth of inventory (non MJ related mind you). But would love to hear all of your input. I've moved around quite a bit in the past but always in the Midwest and honestly I fucking hate it.

Thanks

What a strange question but yes I have been smoking for 10-12 years?
Growing I have done was mostly helping a friends grow. Choosing seeds, planting, helping with general stuff, harvesting, trimming ect. I've never had a house to grow in so always helped with others.

He's asking because I'm sure he's seen the same thing I have many times over the years; some guy starts growing because he thinks there's money in it, but since he doesn't have the passion for the plant, his product is poor. Do what you love and you'll never work a day in your life- and the reverse is still true even if you're growing weed; if you hate doing it, the results are likely to be disappointing.

Yeah, but the ones who bug me are the ones who happily wreck national forests, pollute our water, trash rental houses and then sell crap weed for outrageous prices. For what it's worth, Megas, I didn't get that vibe from your post; rather, you come across as someone who has relevant skills and experience and seeks a legitimate entre into the industry. If that's your intent, then by all means, come to Colorado!

The bottom line is that at least in Colorado, there is still plenty of room for people who come here with a desire to work, build something for themselves and their community and make a lasting contribution to our society. Lofty ideals? Maybe, but why settle?

Hey Yabba- I live in Northern Colorado, and I don't take kindly to the likes of your racist mischaracterizations of everyone up here- especially since you obviously don't know shit about us. So come on up and enjoy a little of our hospitality- or fucking shut up, and stop making yourself look like such an asshole.

Fort Collins is hands down the most friendly city over 100,000 I've seen in this country. If you can find a better place, name it! Even Money Magazine couldn't...

TTYSTIKK, I not sticking up for yabba exactly, but I fail to see on what grounds you are objecting to his post. The only thing he said that could be construed with any racial intent is to quote (who I dont see in this thread but is a well known poster) "Dirty White Boy"

As to telling people not to move to CO for the money, I could say the same about Cal.

Clarify?

Edit: there's a string of deleted content that was part of the reason for this response.

So what's wrong with making money off of growing anyways? We all need $$$ to survive and cannabis fucking costs a lot to produce. So you're just supposed to give the shit away? lol! Yeah let me just throw hundred dollar bills at you while I'm at it...I'm so sick of these ignorant pseudo hippie statements. "oh you're just in it for the money" Fuck off with that hypocritical nonsense. I have a passion for this plant and I need money to survive and to support my family. It's called capitalism and competition comes along with it folks.

Come to CA Megas. People don't give two fucks about where you come from out here. There's no weird rivalry with other states and elitist locals only bullshit like in CO. LA and SF are overcrowded. There's plenty of places that aren't desert...there's a lot of forested areas in the state, not much of Cali is desert and that hood shit is shock value TV crap. The mmj laws are loose and you can make a living growing here if you choose to do so without hate from locals. SF, parts of LA and coastal areas are expensive but most other areas are comparable to CO and WA. If you're looking for a dispensary job then go to LA or SF but other than that it would be hard to do so. Also they tend to want to just hire hot chicks and that's about it. There's enough opportunity for everyone in all three of the states you're interested in...this is still America. Don't let people steer you away from CO either. If you want your piece then go get it. Most of the guys from CO that will try to deter you from going there aren't even originally from there themselves.

The big difference between co and ca if you are an outsider looking to move somewhere to function in an above board fashion (at least at the state level), is that you can sell to shops as a sole proprietor in CA. You can't do that in CO. You can become a caregiver in CO but its highly restrictive.

No hate or beach protection. Just the facts. And Coloradans hated outsiders long before MMJ. Skiers from Texas skiing in scotch guarded jeans were hated long before out of staters showing up to grow weed. What's ironic about all of this, as DeLae pointed out, is that very few people are natives in CO.

No hate here. I hope all of these cats >do< move here and try to set up shop. That revolving door of folks coming/leaving puts a lot of cash into the local economy and keeps craigslist hoppin. Most folks who come up here only make it a few years before realizing that they will never be able to afford to buy a home here and head back "home" where the going is easier/cost of living is less. (talking ski country cost of living...not Denver/FR)

I hope you bitches have back up plans. This weed gig is changin fast. No guarantees.

good luck

LOL. I got folks "back home" begging me for a send...and telling me the outrageous prices there. It's tempting....but the cash...while great....isn't worth the risk. If I didn't own anything/was a 20-something renter with no roots here, I'd for sure play the game differently....

thankfully....I don't need the $$$.

As far as giving it away...I'm looking for a hook with some Vets to dump some meds in their laps for their pain/service. Anybody have any inroads to such folks? Lookin for guys with true needs/PTSD/etc...not just folks looking for a freebie. Any ideas appreciated.
