Hey growers, I'm 50 days into flower. First time growing feminized. Does the top of this flower look right? Btw, I don't see any amber trichomes yet...

Wow what a great first run! Lucky joe, hope your next will be good as this one.

Yeah all look good, just keep an eye open for nanners which can appear almost anytime if the plant get stressed too hard.
Nanners look more yellow than pistils, and sometimes a tricky to detect.
One example.
Nanners2

Keep on growing, amber will show up soon.
Sativas need much more time to ripe as indicas maybe y keep that in mind for your next run.
If y want to force them to finish faster, y can reduce the light hours and a little intensity which leads the plants to ripe faster(winter's comming)
Cheers πŸ€ͺ

Looks like you have some "fox-tailing" going on in the one bud.
It can be in the genetics or stress induced.

As already stated, awesome 1st run! From the web:

fox-tailing in cannabis buds can be normal, but it can also indicate environmental stress or genetic traits, depending on the situation.

What is Fox-Tailing?

Fox-tailing refers to the formation of elongated, spiky, or irregular bud growth where calyxes stack in a stretched, uneven manner instead of forming a dense, compact nug.

Causes of Fox-Tailing

  1. Genetics (Normal)
    • Some strains naturally produce fox-tailed buds, especially sativas and certain exotic or landrace genetics.
    • Examples: Thai, Haze, and certain hybrid strains tend to develop fox-tails as part of their normal bud structure.
  2. Environmental Stress (Abnormal)
    • Excessive Heat: Temperatures above 85Β°F (29Β°C) during late flowering can trigger fox-tailing as the plant tries to keep growing to escape the heat.
    • Light Stress: Too much light intensity (e.g., strong LED or HPS lights too close to the canopy) can stress the plant, causing it to stretch unnaturally.
    • Unstable pH or Nutrient Issues: Excess nitrogen in late flower or imbalanced feeding can contribute to stress-induced fox-tailing.

Is Fox-Tailing Bad?

  • Genetic fox-tailing? No problemβ€”it’s just how the strain grows.
  • Stress-induced fox-tailing? Could indicate suboptimal conditions, but it doesn't necessarily ruin the buds.
  • Potency & Quality? Fox-tailed buds are still potent, but they may be less dense and harder to trim.

How to Prevent Stress-Induced Fox-Tailing

  • Monitor grow room temperatures (keep it below 80Β°F during late flower).
  • Adjust light intensity (raise the lights if buds are too close).
  • Ensure proper airflow and ventilation to avoid heat pockets.
  • Maintain balanced nutrients and pH levels (avoid nitrogen-heavy feeding late in bloom).

Thx, I think I'll raise the lights up to 10 or 12 inches above to keep them less stressed. These are feminized so I'm hoping no nanners show up of course. What do you do if they do show up? That would mean it's either a male or a hermi?

Of course since I didn't lollipop correctly I have a bunch of nugs below the canopy, I was going to selective harvest but I think the harvest is gonna be so big that I'll just chop them off and hang them upside down for 10 days. Thoughts?

I should update the pic. Their so heavy now, I had to stake them up.

Thanks, I need to raise the lights. I'm running below 80F and about 70 at night. 45RH. Good airflow and exhaust.

Will give all the girls a good inspection next watering. Hoping to see amber soon!

Nice room full of colas πŸ‘

You can prop them ones up with canes or use yo yo’s

12 inch is to close
Aim for 24-36 with it dimmed

The small buds & suger leaves you can turn into hash

I use bubblebags for that but there’s many different ways just bubble is my fav as it’s really strong & has a nice taste Plus I like hash & where else ( in the uk ) can you get good hash

They also can show up on a over ran plant, AKA plant determines it’s near end of season and starts pushing nanners to produce pollen to sustain the species (herm / self pollination) I’ve ran a few to that point just to see how long that can feasibly go.

If you push to this point you probably also see new white pistils forming (to receive the pollen to self pollinate)

I gotta get some bubble bags but I’ve been using all my larf and sugar leaves for dry sift lately

I've definitely had the lights too close, close as 4 inches. One good thing though I haven't had the lights up to 100% because it's generates too much heat.

I do see new white pistols probably because I had the lights too close. But these are feminized so that's a lot less unlikely, true?

As soon as I raised the lights they started smelling sweeter. No kidding.

So what strains do have going
Looks like your in for a nice harvest
Thx, I'm hoping! It's been a lot of work.

I'm going to make a thread regarding how I plan to harvest in the near future and see what the consensus is.

2 Blue Dream fem
2 Runtz fem
2 Watermelon Candy fem

However I'm not sure which is which in the 2 buckets, either one is Blue Dream or Runtz or visa versa. I'm hoping to be able to figure it out when they mature by comparing them to the known other two in the 25 gallon pot.

I could see you had two at least the room must be smelling nice

They change in smell as they go along towards the end the smell gets really heavy then seems to stop until you harvest them oh my close the windows.

I grew runtz a while back it’s a heavy yeilder.
Blue dream not yet & the watermelon is new to me

The blue dream taste sounds nice & the watermelon is a candy kush cross witch im smoking now lol

Enjoy the adventure bud

I can only see the 2 plants up front in 5 gallon buckets. Behind them must be the 25 gallon you mentioned. How far back does the closet go??? πŸ€”

Thanks, it'll be interesting to see how they all mature. So far no amber up front but I'll have to dig into it and spin that big 25 gallon pot around, carefully! And one more week it'll be 8 weeks I wonder if having them tight to the lights stunted their maturity.

The grow area is about 4x4 ft the whole room is 10x4 ft. I should have put the door in the middle then just on one of the ends because then I could grow on both sides. Instead of jamming six into one side I have two on one side and two on the other.

I'm going to have to rebuild it because I need to make it more airtight and get rid of some of the insulation because I have a heat problem.

I originally had a dedicated vent to the roof but now I'm running a filter and dumping all that heat into the house in the winter, there's no way I could control the heat in the summer inside especially with three banks of lights.

My power bill jumped $60 this last month.

Here a pic of the 25 gallon...
