The way I see it is that cannabis doesn't have a humidity but a moisture content.

At dry that should be (I forget exacts) 10-14%

Now in the open where air can get to it the humidity will influence the final moisture content so 30% humidity sees the lower 10% and 70% the higher 14%

As you can see humidity has a very little effect on the final moisture content as both are considered dry and will burn if smoked.

At the right moisture content I would then want to jar for storage and the cure which doesn't need a jar just to leave the bud for a long time at between 10-14% moisture content so that low moisture breakdown processes (which happens very slowly) occur.

If you hang a bud you might notice it takes a week to dry to smokable but then the taste another week to fully mature and then after that a slow more subtle refinement over the next few weeks/months however long you want to cure.

If you jar before reaching the right moisture content it's not good and will impact taste and smokeability. At this point the humidity in the jar will rise a small amount and for some hopeful those moisture packs might just suck up the excess and not ruin the smoke. Some might see a partial loss as moisture is still too much.

Really to dry the humidity isn't very important, it does have some influence on final product but not much and I'd prefer more drier bud to some that still has moisture and really dry bud smokes extra well imo.

As long as your not force drying your fine it can't dry too fast and just hanging for a week should be perfect and perfect drying speed in most climates although I'd like to keep to a certain temperature range and provide fresh air constantly to the drying room so moisture can leave the buds and dissipate away.

Something that got overly complicated in the last couple decades, at one point we all just hung out bud till it smoked good and tasted fruity good. Jar too early at your own risk and ignore the humidity somewhat and focus on the final moisture content for jarring.

Should explain drying a little better and what your really after past the humidity part as moisture content is so much more important imo to get the right cure.

I remember the mag High Times at one point had a show your harvest photo run and I remember most pictures had weed on basement floor spread out with brown grocery bag material cut up on top and bottom.
And nobody died. 😜

Was a magical time and magical magazine, dreams of watching the Northern lights whilst high on Northern lights, drying banana skins to see if they made supercharged weed, planning trips to Amsterdam but never ever going..... giggity 🥴
