Evening, folks. Update time.
Since installing the side lighting and running it for the last 1-1/2 days, I've noticed quite a bit of improvement. The canopy is really starting to take shape, lateral growth is rock solid, my roots are getting insane! (I'll post pics of the roots in an update tomorrow as I'm doing a res change at that point) I've continued to slowly and surely tie down the various branches, and am maintaining an almost perfectly flat canopy at around 5-1/2" above the bucket lid. I'll probably put the 3-1/2" trellis on it later this week and start tucking as I'm already over the bucket edges. It's currently 17"x15.5"x5.5" (left to right x front to back) and I'd like to flip her when it's around 70% full. In the pictures below, you'll probably notice some fan leaves drooping a fair bit. I've been doing some "micro cropping" on them, pinching and rolling the stems a bit to soften them up and tuck them underneath. I'm keeping them on for the next few days as they're not really blocking anything yet, but still acting as solar panels. I'll do a light defoliation later on this week, but for now, there's no impediment to air flow or light access to the growth nodes so I'll not stress her on top of the res change and tie downs all at the same time.
PPFD is up around 625 now at the canopy top and almost 500 throughout the mid and bottom canopy. I'll start slowly raising that a couple of days after the res change. I picked up an IR thermometer and have been checking leaf temperature as well as air temp now. Still using the AI to do the analysis of all my daily data logging, but since adding that extra column of information, it's recalculated the VPD numbers giving me a Leaf VPD target and a specific target on my humidifier VPD control trigger that works perfectly. So it's accounting for the difference for me. I've been doing that for the last 2 days now and honestly, the change in growth over the last 2 days has been staggering to me. It might just be that it's at that stage in its growth cycle, I've never done a hydro grow before. But I can honestly say, I'm not sure I'll ever go back to any other medium for my indoor grows.
Main cola sites are really starting to make themselves known. The colour is looking great over all, and other than a few fan leaves that took a bit of mechanical damage when I was doing tie downs around them, no issues to really speak of that I've seen, anyway. EC has continued a very slow downward drift (0.002-0.008 per day) and my pH has been rock solid stable the entire time. Roots are looking healthy as can be, and I'm quite excited to start this next phase of her training; the scrog net.
Anyway, here's the pictures I took of her immediately after opening the tent for this evening's readings. I also included some of the shots from this morning. You can see how much she's grown over about 13 hours.
Overhead shots:

Here's a couple of close ups of the 2 mains:

Right main morning
Right main evening
Here's a shot straight on at the canopy level from this evening:
And finally a general overall shot of her from this evening.
Once again, thanks to any and all who dropped by and joined me in my adventure. It's really hitting that exciting point now where all the prior work and preparation is really paying off. Let me know what you think, any issues or problems you see, etc. I welcome it all!
Cheers,
BA.
