Interesting problem, Seamaiden. If it's a public nuisance then you'd think it was harmful and not just a smell everyone doesn't appreciate. Sense of smell is COMPLETELY objective, so unless it's a harmful chemical, saying the smell of mmj is a nuisance has no basis in fact whatsoever, many people might find it pleasant. The problem with them doing this with mmj, is that it could be applied to anything that smells.

I think that if you tested this in court and came up with the right arguments, there is no way you could lose because the logic to call a simple smell a public nuisance is flawed in a rural farming area. I could see it being a nuisance in a city, but that's a whole 'nother set of rules.
Gotcha on the subjectivity of the sense of smell, and DING DING DING, you've hit the nail on the head! They even worded the ordinance in such a way that anyone who makes a complaint will have to be tested by an olfactory specialist, and that's just for starters.

Big question for me and other patients here is how far we're willing to go to push things. I met a gal a couple of counties south of me and she's facing some real heartache, judges keep denying her and the other defendants the MMJ defense (in relation to their collective's activities). Law enforcement can make a person's life absolutely miserable, and that cuts across all states, not just CO or CA.

Didn't read the whole thread, but I have had these fuckers before and the two things that killed them were Zero Tolerance (due to the cinnamon oil) and Safers 3 in 1... I know for a fact that sulphur will kill them so just go with that and ZT... Watch out when using Sulphur with oils tho, that is bad news...

Sulphur, Sulphur, Sulphur... Floramite says it doesn't work on russets and I tried it and sure enough, it doesn't work... These things are a bitch so your best bet is to get an atomizer and go at it with the Safers!

Good luck...

Everyone that I know says that Judo is the answer. One application will kill everything, I'm about to find out but that's the word here, warning it cost 445$ for 8 ounces of this product, but 8 ounces will last forever, takes 1 ml per gallon and everyone says one application will wipe out everything. I know people who are applying it as a preventative measure. Also I have nothing to do with any company just rumor is that it's the best and only answer to russets.

So I have honestly took forever to identify and consequentially eliminated these from a friends garden effectively. First with a fungicide- then after re-appearing 3-4 day intervals of mighty wash baths of plants and environment. Takes several, beat it down an cut off shit growth. They come back strong believe me.

But, they're done completely? It's clean? <fingers crossed>

Once I learned how zoos and aquariums handle QT and disease control I've always used a 30 days disease-free mark. Most everything, most anything, will express within that time frame. Not everything, but almost.

Yes the plants recovered completely flipped rooms and flowered just fine, healthy and clean. Space used for veg has had them come back due to loose silver reflective stuff not being replaced, and have since been beaten down again. If you don't clean your environment you will have to deal with them again, but as for killing them it appears to do the job pretty well. Ive found the mighty wash is pretty decent all around if you use it consistently with a specific problem and does relatively little to the plants.

Lol, nope I haven't but my store guy says the rep did it tho....not gonna be on my consumption list!! ha. But agreed, a virtually harmless product to plants that has had some great results on mites.

A friend's grow had a mysterious 'nutrient deficiency', and I ended up with some of his cuts. So started my own odyssey with russet mites, and so far, azamax only slows them a bit, mighty wash is pretty effective as a one time thing- but it doesn't attack the eggs, so it has to be reapplied- and sulphur applications with a burner are effective, at least to keep them from spreading.

Gonna try the Avid and Forbid- I will let peeps know what I find out!

hello everyone ive never joined a forum before but after the problems im getting with hemp russet mites i needed info. some of you are bang on. i live in uk. grown for 1 year +. used water tank aand drippers, then moved onto coco.since using coco started getting russet mites. it cannot be coincidence.it has to be the canna coco that is harbouring the russet mites.lots of people are saying the same as what ive been thinking for a while. ive read today that russet mites are a real problem in the country that produces the coco coir.they are litterally all over the coconuts.....it hass to be the canna coco,im fuming. i sprayed my mother plant with shower gel and water and they disappered, only to take over my bloody flowerig room.its devastating. there are good reviews about MIGHTY WASH. has anyone tried this mighty wash on on hemp russet mites ?????? please let me know

azamax+spinosad foliar every 4 days, plain water foliar every day between for treatment
sulphur burning and pytherium for prevention

if you can't beat em with that bleach/ozonate your entire grow, throw out all the media you're using, and kill every plant. Don't take cuttings of anything unless they have been treated for at least a month prior, and even still those cuttings can be the end of you.

Avid will clear them out, as will the Ag product dimilin, but we're producing something that people will be smoking, so those two are out. Plus with the way things are going (EPA and USDA are catching wind of how rampant and irresponsible pesticide use is in our community/industry) there's a chance you people on the map can get your licensing revoked, plants confiscated, even fines/jailtime for using banned or restricted use pesticides.

the predatory mite amblyseius andersonii is also an effective treatment for them. I've personally seen dozens of acres of citrus rust mites eradicated through repeated applications of andersonii mites and the pesticide dimilin.

russets thrive in hotter gardens, and populations explode with lower than normal humidities.
