We have VERY hard water from our well - like 332 (over 70 is hard). High levels of calcium and sulfates. Managed to get through last years grow ok but the white residue on soil and smallish yield has led us to believe we should try to soften it this year.

Does anyone have any experience or suggestions for an in-line hose water softener?

You don't want a water softener, which introduces sodium to the system. Look into a reverse osmosis water filter. There are many available.

If you have a lot of Ca in the water, you probably got some lockout in your last grow. I've been there.
