So after days and days of bouncing back and forth between ideas, here is what I’ve settled on(for now lol).
Instead of doing 3 rows of 4, I’m going to do 3 rows of 5. 3 plants per table to fill a 10x16’ canopy...I was going to transplant them from 1 gals to 3 gals but instead decided to keep them in 1gals and throw a few more in the room. I’m a firm believer that having a nice dense root system with coco going into flower is crucial for high frequency fertigation. If I were to have transplanted them into 3’s I would have needed to veg them for a couple more weeks. Since this room is opening up in a week or so I decided to just fill it asap.
I spent a lot of time trying to decide what to do for lighting this round. I’ve decided to use the (8) 600w SE epaps that I have and add in a row of (5) 315w CMH’s in between the rows of HPS, for a grand total of 6375w @ 31.2A. A month after these are flipped I’m going to be flipping a couple big’ol ladies in my veg room, and moving my mothers to my little clone room, which I’ll be upgrading soon. Veg room will have 3-4kw(I have (2) 1kw SE HPS, (1) 1kw DE HPS, and the grow beast which is 1kw DE HPS and (2) 315w CMH that won’t be in use and would like to use all but one SE HPS; which I’ll use for my mommas).
As for the tables/scrog frames, here is a ROUGH sketch of what I have planned. 2” thick PVC for the table frame and then 1” pvc coming up off of it for the scrog frame.
The table made will be 26” x 6’ corrugated polycarbonate roofing panels at slight incline, with gutters on the ends, all of which will be plumbed to my floor drain. The first layer of trellis will be wire fencing and will only be 2x6’ so that they all can fit in the veg room to allow me to begin filling them in prior to flipping. The casters will obviously allow me to move them room to room, and also to be able to move them around in the flower room to be able to get around(I plan on it being a tight fit lol, very little unused space). I’ve implented ideas from folks I’ve seen on the forums/IG so can’t take any credit for any of this. Not even sure if it’s a good idea but we’ll see. PVC is like legos for adults to me so I don’t mind doing the work.
Construction begins in a week! Going to be tearing down the existing room, sanitizing, framing out a new one, insulating, Sheetrock, mud/tape/prime paint, sanitizing again. Idle handles are the devils play things, so I like to keep busy. This should do the trick for a few days .
Open to any input/suggestions. I’ve been at this for 11 year on and off but like to pretend I know nothing, I’m constantly reading/researching and look for any consctructive critiscim I can get, so lay it on me! After this first coco run I have absolutely no intentions on going back to any of the systems I’ve done in the past (DWC, Aero, soil, peat, RW). I am absolutely head over heels for coco! Such an amazing medium.
Anywho, rant over. Bout to pop another monster and get back to work. Cheers guys! May the sleepless nights pay off for the rest of you (and hopefully me too LOL)
