Why have you never considered using any form of hydro?

NUTE BURN ON Day 10 from Day 9:
The mystery strain (Vortex?) in the 2nd room got nute burned bad. Thought it needed Cal Mag, added 1/4 of recommended dose, that was enough to tip the scale to burn. This is after bringing the solution down 800 ppm over the past week. Pics of the burn are below.

This strain burned slightly in the cloner from the CloneX Solution (thought it may be the light to close), now we know its def. sensitive and will be running House & Garden A/B nutes at 50% after flush.

Aligee, I love your signature quote! I had to google Dr. Adrian Roger and add that full quote to my facebook quote page, lol.

Yeah, in case you didn't know, the roots and leaves will match each other. If you cut leaves, roots will stop growing till there are enough leaves and visa versa, you cut roots and the leaves wont grow. There is always a balance.

You can guess what the roots are like based on the leaves.

Thanks! I look forward to controlled rooms and experimenting in the future. There are a few advanced techniques I want to try, like using blue light spectrum through the dark cycle and tanning lights for UVB. Thats why you can see shop lights in the rooms :D

Getting ready to add CO2

Getting ready to add CO2

Already bought:
C.A.P. PPM-3 Controller used for $250
C.A.P. GEN-2e Generator used for $150

On the schedule to buy this week:
Ecoplus 1/4 HP Water Chiller - $420

CO2 Tank possibly, haven't decided if we will plumb the generator (looking for a used one, they are dime a dozen)

CO2 Regulator @ 4 CFH to fill 2 rooms to 1500ppm
Generator would run 12 mins
Tank would run 28 mins

Decisions, decisions.

Blue light spectrum through the dark cycle?

Yes. There are many studies done, that show plants can still use/process blue spectrum in the dark cycle without effecting its sleep cycle. During the dark cycle the plant is the most efficient growing but running on "batteries" if you will, from the energy that was stored during the day cycle. Imagine if you can keep those batteries charged. Thus giving you bigger yields.

Ya, RO water, CloneX Gel? It was at our friends who cut the clones for us, not sure which gel he had. We let them sit in the gel container for about 15 minutes, 8 at a time, before removing them. Then they sat in cloner on the way home (20 minutes). About 1 hour before system was plugged in and running.

We ran cloner 24/7 and on we got nervous about temp hitting 82 degrees, dumped the whole ice tray in it for 3 days in a row. LOL. I think it turned out to be we just didnt have enough water in it to stay cool. The ice filled it up the sprayers and water temp solved itself. We mixed 50% on day one. I brought ClonerX Solution up to recommended dose on the 3rd day.

I remember we saw nubs on day 3 (we weren't exactly sure at the time, lol) and the next day 4 saw more nubs and the next day it just exploded overnight. There was 1 cutting that didn't root for almost 7 days. Was just a lot slower than all others.

Probably just beginners luck and the ice helped do something, with temp swings. lol

hey f1ydave,
" Why have you never considered using any form of hydro? "

it's not that i have not considered it. but it's that most methods have inherent issues that i rather not deal with. water cost's $ too, and i always have to be concerned with cost issues. equipment failures etc.

I've done hempy buckets b4, & coco too. both seem to be simple productive methods that i can live with to get hydro yields.
