You are blowing things way out of proportion. We are talking about a weed that grows pretty easily. Not everything in the ground needs to be given to a plant as they have been shown to grow just fine on X number of nutrients.

Chrysmatic has been kind enough to help in regards to DIY nutrient making and the points he makes are valid and true. So to insult simply because he chooses not to post his plants is ridiculous.

on a more DIY topic... any of you guys using sulfuric acid diluted as a ph down or even getting food grade phosphoric acid and diluting?

what would the ramifications be, if any, of using sulfuric and NPK ratios... for some reason i thought the nute companies took using phosphoric acid as pH down into consideration.

Yes I'm using sulferic acid (batery acid) as a ph down.. WORKS AMAZINGLY... and its cheap... 8$ is for a qrt divid this by 4 is 8oz....
Take 4 gallon jugs and remove 8oz from each...
ad the 8oz of sulfuric acid back in a shake PRETTY FUCKING EASY...

I just use the lid as a measuring spoon..
AND FOR THOSE WORRIED ABOUT SAFTY....
When I pour it in the lid some splashes out (usally) AND IT DOES NOTHING TO MY HANDS.... lol I have dr. hands soft & smooth....

I make 4 gallons of down for around 12$'s
I own a r.o machine but its easy/cleaner just to buy new gallons of distilled water for 4$ish...

Others just choose to use lemon juice it also cheap like 2$ish for a bottle...

What you got, 30 lights, 60 maybe? Dont kid yourself, you are nothing but a bug splat on the windshield to big pharma. Go on and demand legit medicine, its going to be a corporation with a couple hundred thousand plants, not a 15 light grow. If they even need the plant at all.

Fatman threw out some guidelines, a place to start, thats all. There is a lot of really good info in this thread. You havent said how much iron you think the plant needs. Does it need the same amount of iron the whole grow? What about edta, do you use it. Tested your plants for cadmium? Whats more chlorine do for the plant, when is it toxic? what form to add it. How do you get nickel to the plant? Done a side by side? You have other issues with fatmans guidelines?

I'm not a chemist or a botanist, I see big healthy plants and I look at what the grower is feeding them, its real simple.

Here is SSH at just over 3.5 weeks. DIY Canna knock-off of their coco A&B, along with DIY Hammerhead.

tiny bit of burning at leaf edges due to me running it slightly too hot for them. Its only my second run of SSH and they like their nutes a tad less. Light is 600watt HPS. I pull between 20-21 oz from this when doing a high yielder like chronic but this will be lower yield/higher quality

5 in there right now. The SSH I have though is a hermie. Weirdest thing I have ever seen though....one ball will form right at where the stalk meets the branch and then no more. BUT every damn internode has one ball!!! I have run dozens of strains in this room and this is the only one to do it. Sad too as my buddies say this one is the best without exception.

Problem is, I invariably miss one or two balls and then you have seeds. Not tons but enough to be a pain in the ass. So this SSH will be shelved after this run and back to some of my tried and trusted strains.

ironically it is YOU who don't know what you're feeding your plants. how dare you play russian roulette with your patients?! whatever i feed plants, I consciously and thoughtfully put there. it's not due to mixing a half dozen bottles mixed by other people (do you trust labels?) you're calculating ppm from commercial nutes...you're half way to diy...you can do it! my formula didn't work from the get go - there was a formulation learning curve, and a learning curve of its implementation. i got that $hit down now. i made a cns17 batch for my grower, and he wants my original formula - which wasn't even quite what i intended due to salt availability. you've said that there are 'many great nutrients' on the market. don't you wonder how so many different formulas can ALL be great??

please don't use semantics. it's a PLANT! i won't lie, your bud is impressive. i have testimonials that crysmatic formula-grown weed is AAA (better than med club weed). i know pics are worth 1000 words, and i will post 100% diy harvest asap - please don't bug me until i get them. after i post pics of fat, crystally, potent buds, are you still going to tell me that they're deficient?

There are cheaper and better alternatives to moab imop, however its a fine monopotassium phosphate (KH2PO3). How many days are you running it for? And what is your base elemental P that your boosting from?

I wouldn't boost longer then 3-4 days for a p spike.

DS...the "Moab" I use is actually just a knock-off of the Mad Farmer brand.

This is about as close as I can get to Mad Farmer's brand using the same ingredients that they use. Total cost is 2.72/kg of fert

I usually hit them at around week 7 (10 week strain) and run it for a week.
Works great.


My base nutes are Canna Coco knock-off @ 5-4-3 In bloom I spike the PK the first week which seems to help them trigger to bud quickly.
Then I bump both my P and K with a Knock-off of Hammerhead 9/18

Followed with a shot of MOAB at week 7

I do find though that the SSH is far more sensitive to nutes in general but seems especially to not like much of a change in P and K.
Last I am running this strain so I won't bother experimenting too much with her.

Rather then use a chart for my boosters i like to use them as i see the plant calling for them... in general that is the start of week 2, start of 4 and start of 6, however in each case plant specific behavior is the key.

So for the week 2 boost i would wait till buds are clearly forming, week 4, that they are clearly bulking, and week 6 clearly starting to shine. Waiting on plant specific behavior to indicate nutritional need is more beneficial then to provide it based on calendar schedule.

That being said i try and boost an elemental p of 45-60 to around 75 for 4 days total (on each boost).

I like your ratios, most people arnt using enough N imo. Mind posting your mix and we will see what kind elemental p your working with?

i like the moab mix your making too but imo there are better boosters out there, have you made any others?

I'm getting ready to order up some chemicals to make my fertilizer but see that hydrobuddy is recommending boric acid. in my notes i wrote boric acid/solubor. a search of boric acid said it can kill plants... am i missing something?

Boric acid is highly toxic in large dosage. Its even used as a herbicide.

Boron is also an essential micro nutrient and necessary in small dosage. you can refer back to my tissue ppm pics to see how much is necessary.

I ended up ordering the boric acid. it was relatively cheap and the specs were already in hydrobuddy versus the solubor.

I should be mixing up my first batch of nutrients sometime next week!

Ingredients:
1 Tablespoon of Boric Acid, 1 tsp of Sugar, 4 oz water, Cotton Balls.
Mix Boric Acid and Sugar in a bowl. This can be poured over a cotton wad in a small dish or bottle cap. Keep this from drying out for continued effectiveness. Place Cotton balls in path of Ants.
also read somewhere lady would mix this into a empty ketchup bottle lol not heinz but the kind you get to fill ketchup in.. She would sqeeze this soution on the premiter of her house I believe inside and out...

bugs like the sugar and get poisend when the eat... pretty quick & easy..
plus I bought 5lbs of boric acid and only us few grams each time I mix my own nutes,so this will be a lifetime supply might as well make a free pesticide..
