Just leave them in the jar and don't burp it every day. Its gonna take a lot longer to rehydrate them, then it did to dehydrate them.

You want to speed the process or ensure you will increase moisture more than a few points, then grab some Boveda packs.

EDIT: nice to hear the gauze is working for ya. Moist cotton ball taped to the bottom of the lid is genius.

If your buds turned out nasty smelling after using these, specifically the 62 percent ones than you had another issue besides the packs. Been using them for years and I have never had a single issue with them.

lol, I've heard other say the same. I did a simple test and the jar without out way way different. I'm curious to as what the problem was then. Maybe my basement gnome was farting in that boveda jar just to fuck with me I'm gonna have to put a camera down there, if thats the case.

Yep thinking to dry also. I go till they fold crisply? I guess you may call it. Of they snap always to dry for me.
Did you just add that Imposter Soil Grower byline??? Or have I just been too stoned to see it until now?

Ball mason jars. I just expected the humidity to rise in the jars and so far nothing after 12 hours in there. You think I should stick the packets in there and risk bad flavor or wait another 12 hours and see what happens?
I just don't understand how after 5 days they were that dry going in. What was teh temp where they cured? You mentioned the 55% RH, did I miss a temp range? I dried in a hot and dry closet and it required taking them out after 3 days, alternating between jars and burping and brown paper bags. Finally got it to be stable at 62% after a solid additional week of babysitting. The price I pay for not having a controlled environment.

I've tried them, they make my buds Nasty smelling and taste funky I will never use them again, the ones without packs smell and tasted great.

If I think they are to dry I will open the jars on a rainy day on my porch, or I would recommend a damp cotton ball in the jar put something in there so the buds don't touch like a small piece of wax paper on top to separate them
Apple slice like you do for brown sugar? :)

The process of drying out flower can be a bit of a challenge even in a controlled environment. The size and density of the buds can cause problems. Like you I usually shoot for around 50 percent relative humidity and 70 degrees. With those numbers I feel safe that mold will not grow and the buds will dry out. But the time it takes for the dry to occur can change. Best I can achieve is 7 days of hanging. But I have had strains that take 16 days to reach a point were it is safe to start curing.
There was mention above about the Boveda Packs changing the taste or smell of buds. It would be really had for a product that is water and salt sealed in a pack to do anything to the taste or smell of a bud, that is unless you opened the package and poured the contents on the buds.

Hello, hive mind. This is my first grow. I dried for 5 days at 55% humidity and small branches snapped and then jarred the buds up. It's been 12 hours and the humidity in the jars is reading only 45%. Is there something wrong, or will it naturally rise? Any advice or help appreciated.
Drying in jars is really very simple. Don't get hung up on technology. When you put the buds into a jar, only fill about 75%. Open jar every day. If they feel wet, leave jar open overnight. Seal up for another day. Open jar and feel buds. Repeat until the day you open and the outside of the buds feel dry/crispy like. Been doing this for forty years and it always works. Don't overthink it.

Temp was 73-75 degrees 55% RH. The RH dropped in my region in last day or two of drying to sometimes 35%. That's probably what did it. However, 4 days into curing after that initial wet gauze on lid of jars and my cure is holding steady at 62-64% Rh in jars with two burps a day for 5 minutes each time. Thanks everybody for your help.
