Nice work. Now, the real fun begins!
Now the fun begins.... 6 hours of working the ph down to 5.8 later, we got the clones a new home. We were concerned about yo-yoing the ph so we took it easy with the ph down. Takes awhile to mix 150 gallons, especially when it's in 16 tubs and a barrel!

Loaded!

I must of spun the dial on the camera to the wrong setting. Can you guess what kind of bulb I'm using ;-} Bulbs are up about 4 feet and turned down 50% to let the girls get use to the new home. I'll bring them down a bit and turn them up over the next 4 to 5 days I'm guessing.

Ballast set up. I ordered them from a place with a WA warehouse and they shipped from RI... Got here on Friday, pretty much just in time. I didn't get my nutes or my mixing stuff yet, so I bought some to tied me over local.

Tty - turns out our local garden store does not carry what you're local place does. Couldn't get strait anything. Had to read labels and find percentages to get products that had the essential ingredients, like Calcium and Magnesium. I'm too tired to go into the list right now, but if you're willing I would love to hear what you think of what I managed to find. It's time to join the cat ...

Once last picture, just 'cause I like it. All the clones before they got pulled out of the cloner -

Beautiful room good luck on your run
Thanks Pura. I sure hope the buds turn out all pretty like my new room.

My -hot- new room. Forgot to mention that when I ran the lights yesterday to see what the room would get to it hit 91 or so. I'm going to run at night, and with all the lamps at 50% the room is 76F. I'm going to add a fan to push air in and hope that helps, but I may just swap the 6" fan for an 8". The filter is for a 6" fan but I can make the filter work with an 8" fan and still get some more flow though it than I'm getting now. At least the solution stays pretty cool.

I like your pics, very nice.

Man, that whole massive hydro setup is either going to be fabulously easy, or a monster pain in the ass. I'll be watching carefully...

Just read your post about ventilation. First, PULL your air out of the room; the very act of cramming air into a space will heat it, defeating your purpose.

Second, if you're planning to run 4x1kW of lights, you need 8" ventilation throughout. Don't skimp.

Trust me, I just saved you a bunch of hassle!

Ummmm... you are running sealed and vented hoods, right? If you're not, you will need powerful AC. Ventilation will not suffice.

No input fan, just exhaust - got it. And i'll be adding another set of vents for incoming air along with getting an 8" fan. Fortunately I ran 8" duct in case the 6" fan was not enough. And, a, no. I got A-wings. Might be dipping into the creek pretty soon.

I sure hope my XXL hydro is easy. Though I know I will change things in the future. I don't like the double pump idea my hydro mentor came up with. It's need to get the main res out of the room, but if the return pump fails I risk a real 'sea' of green. It appears that it that happens the (17) 18 gallon tubs in the room can hold it all.

I'm currently flying by the seat of my pants on nutes... I hope to post that story tonight, not to mention I hope the Jacks comes in. PPM is good and the girls look happy so i'm feeling pretty secure there.

A quick note - if you order online check out www.hydroponics.net. You certainly have to plan ahead as much of their stuff does not ship for 3 to 5 days. However, customer service is phenomenal as far as on line shopping goes. Order updates and questions can be handled by text, which at least for me is much quicker than email. Good selection. Well designed site.

The kicker is this; I ordered most of the fittings to build the hydro set up from them. As I took the last bulk head fitting out of the bag I saw it was the wrong size. The time is 11pm, 2 shipping days before I move the clones. Sent them a text and they got back to me 7am the next morning. They overnighted one $1.50 part to me to correct the issue and assure that I did not miss my window for transfer. I was impressed and wanted to give them a shout out.

...ok, back to work ;-}

I THink I read that you are in socal. If so.. it is getting hot and without vented hood... for 4 k. and adjust a wings an ac. is going to be in need. I am in s cal and was facing the same issue during the build out of my room. It was a difficult to fork up the money to create a closed circuit room but I am glad I did.. Meaning a I had to invest in an a/c unit and a c02 regulator/generator. But the for this region it is the way to go. And I personally think that you will want to upgrade your room in this direction one day soon.

The one thing to keep in mind. If you go this direction you will be saving money on. Fan's, Carbon filter ( you will need them but not as large of units.) Get a mini split A/C if you can afford it.

Yeah, your 4 adjust-wings will make tapping the creek mandatory. Plan to get that going before turning them all on. You may get by with one or two in your room and venting, but no more than that.

lovely work i am in this one till the end brotha Killer work .

i think swany is in the PNW but I still agree cooling may be needed

I THink I read that you are in socal.

Hey all - I am a PNW transplant from NorCal. I did build the network in Fry's Woodland Hills plus work on Fountain Vally, Manhattan Beach and Burbank. A life long ago...

I've got forest out the back of my shop, plus a good size year around creek like Ttystikk mentioned. I was in a shop today that had 8" Ice Boxes and paused for a bit ;-} The thing is, I'm getting a bit concerned about getting a return on my investment in medical research and don't want to spend a ton more on gear before I see something back. I think I'm going to go the route of the used radiator for my first chilling. I did spring for an 8" fan to replace my 6". I'm going to add more inlets to the room. I've been meaning to put a smaller pump in the koi pond and I'm wondering if the old one (draws 8 amps) can push water up 40 feet. At 8 amps though I wonder if AC would be less expensive.

My room is not closed, but I keep it pretty controlled, if that's the word. The door seals, no windows, caulked the cracks, pollen capable filter on the input and carbon on the out of course.

I'm not as impressed with the Awings as I thought I would be. Instead of focusing the light uniformly they concentrate it in a line, or two lines to be exact. Good for the little plants now but narrow for the (hopefully) bushy later stages. I saw an advertizement for induction lights in Maximum Yield - totaly the way to go... if they Work. The PAR charts on one brand I read looked phenomenal. Back to the fact I need to recoup my investment first...

I'm going to try and take a picture of the plant closest to the door every day for fun. Y'all have seen plants before so that would be boring, but it's the only new picture I have handy at the moment ;-}

130514 plant one Figured out how to post thumbnails finally ;-}

With 4k in a room that size your fans are going to run constant.. In wa you can get away with using your fans to control temp but you will lose control over everything else.. it will still be an ok environment if you need some time before getting an AC. But you will need to move more air.. With the original setup it will get in the 90's in no time.. Even with a 6 in and 8 out id assume you would be well into the 80's.

if you wanted to stick with fans for awhile run your 6" or 8" constant for neg pressure and then get a big in and out to exchange the air.

Seeing how you took the time to seal everything up nice and tight i would go fully sealed when you have the chance... Tty's chiller setup is gangster..use the extra heat for the rest of your shop.. Also he found a cool heat pump that would work well in wa.

Btw clean setup.. Nice work.

Also you can cut clone leaves off and it won't affect rooting.. I cut at least a half inch off the tips so they don't overlap so much and they still root with no problems..

If the off the rack icebox units wont work for your application, then try the alternative.

Instead of pumping water straight up 40 feet, maybe get it from further upstream to minimize the head height?

That would be great, but it would also put a pipe across the back of the house. Can't disrupt 'the view'. I may be able top scratch it into the hill side enough to hide it. If I could get enough of a drop from where I pull water to the area behind my shop I could use a ram pump. That would be most economical.

Thanks Flip - I have not looked into sealing a room. I assume the idea is nothing in and nothing out. All you have to do is control heat and supplement Co2?

Yep. Also humidity. IMO building a room inside a room works best for sealed.. You can put a scrubber inside.. Mount all your gear on top of the box. Have one filter outside the box to snag anything that escapes. It would work fine with your existing build.. If your worried about smell escaping from opening and closing the door you can turn on your exhaust for a few minutes.. You will need one hooked up anyways to exhaust the air out from time to time.. The scrubber that circulates the air inside the room 24/7 also help cleaning and controlling the air.

It's a lot of extra gear to make the transition .. But your end results will be consistent and will no longer swing one way or another depending on the season.

I'm not really worried about smell escaping. I'm on 5 acres with un-buildable creek land behind me. I filter the exhaust just so that visitors to the property don't get a clue. I am prominent in a pretty big community of people and word would spread fast. (side note, I just switched local hydro stores 'cause last time I went to the close one a dozen people I know having lunch across the street called out my name -just- as I put my hand on the door to the shop - doH! - explained that as needing fittings for my bio diesel rig). I can see where not having to deal with weather fluctuations would be good in producing consistent product. Right now I want to get the room functioning as is and produce a crop. I'll keep this in the back of my mind though when making purchases. When I expand I'll look deeper into it.
