First UC run, Shoreline and Grape Ape 8,800 watts....ouch!
OOF!!!
Well,
as stated in the title this is my first UC run and things are not going well.
I started with nice healthy plants that were in a kiddie pool with airstones.
I switched them into the UC once I started to see roots.
As soon as I transferred them they began to wilt. I figured out that the water level wasn't high enough and the rockwool plug they were rooted in had dried out. Fixed, began top watering and raised water level.
The plants then began to look leathery and dry. I added Roots Excel and developed some new root growth. The plants started to look better. A couple of days after that..brown roots and sludge. I flushed for a day or so and things looked a little better. It seems like maybe the brown gunk is the Roots Excel stuck on there. I've used RE many times before but in rockwool and coco so I never really saw the roots.
I'm stumped, the stems on all of the plants are purple, and I mean purple!
Some of the healthier looking ones are showing some good tissue growth but the rest look like they're hurtin'!
My PPM is 420 with a starting value of 200 for my water.
Water temp. is 64-66
PH 5.9
Room temp is 75
Here are a couple of pics...kind of embarrassing but here they are.
The last pic is of happier days.
Any thoughts are more than welcomed~DN
