Are there any downsides to putting your mothers out to flower? Someone once told me mothers wouldn't be good plants to throw outside because of the stress they go through from having clones taken off them often. Is this true? Or am I right In Assuming the bigger the plant the bigger the yield when your growing them outdoors?

I threw some moms out late last year - the heat did make a few sad for a week or so - but they all pulled out and produced well for their size

middle plant = 8 ft casey jones

2 small mcfly moms that went out 3 weeks later then the rest

grew some fat ass round buds for having been heavily chopped and having thin stems - these flowered as soon as they were put out so they didnt have the benefit of any veg time outside like the others

I put my mothers out after their duty as clone mas is done lol. Alls I do is keep them in the shade for a week before I transplant them into the ground. They always do great.

A fresh clone off a mom will out-produce and out grow it's mother nearly every time. You can put mother plants out and they can do just fine, but you will get faster growth and a higher yield of a fresh clone. Not saying you can't get decent weight and good bud off of mom's, but personally, it is not something I would do after trying it a few times.

Also bigger plants equating bigger yield is not always true with outdoor. The structure of the plant and the structure of the bud itself has far more to do with it than height. In fact plants with tight structure, and that go more wide than tall are, almost always the biggest yielders.
