23% tho... I just can't wrap my head around that.I think the significant difference in these lamp sources is the spectrum profile - CMH puts more of the consumed power in useful PAR and UV wavelengths that the other lamps are rather poor at generating. Certain important biochemical reactions can still happen with the lower energy levels of longer wavelengths, however they do take longer.
DLI is only measuring the quantum photon count - since usually applied to sunlight, assumes the broadband spectrum of natural sunlight. With artificial sources, we would need to mimic the solar spectrum to use DLI in a similar way since it may be impractical to adjust for spectral differences. Plants have photoreceptors intended for specific wavelengths - this is why spectrum matters.

My other thing is, heat.... I got 2 600w hps going in a 4×8 tent in open air reflectors. I'm wondering what heat comparisons the 2-600 compared to 3-315 and can I get the same yield, growth, and quality... That is my needs. I see the 315 kit with ballast outside tent. I need to know just what the light puts out with ballast outside tent...
If your asking me, it probably is to some degree. I have 1 600w ballast... The other is 1k dimmable to 600.I run 3 315cmh in a 3x6 area and I switched them out from 2 600w lights all ballast located outside my growing area temps dropped about 7 degrees with no other changes yield was effected in a good way by increasing, I noticed zero effect on maturation. I have all open hoods. Not sure if that helped but the 315 run much cooler than 600's. Also correct me if I'm wrong but isn't dimming 1k bulbs effecting the overall par and color range the bulbs put out?
And thanks for the info!I run 3 315cmh in a 3x6 area and I switched them out from 2 600w lights all ballast located outside my growing area temps dropped about 7 degrees with no other changes yield was effected in a good way by increasing, I noticed zero effect on maturation. Should work, the adapters work well and should fit in a vert bulb fixture connected to a 315 ballast.Love the info in here! I have a couple of the 630 lec fixtures that seem to be doing great. I do have one concern...I'm curious how safe these adapters are that put a 315 cmh bulb into a traditional socket? I would love to use these 315's as verts for supplemental light but I'm concerned how safe this is. Has anyone on here doing this seen any problems or any electrical savvy guys see anything wrong with this?
