Will be interesting to see your results. Just remember before throwing anything into the hashpile....if its unfit to smoke, its unfit for hash. Not only are you concentrating the good shit, but the bad as well. MGG

Most of the bad stuff in pot from nutes et al is gonna be water soluble, so no--you're probably not gonna be concentrating the bad stuff. It's being extracted and removed.

Squiggly, for me its like this. If I wouldn't smoke it, I damn sure wouldn't be makin concentrates out of it. You can talk about water soluble etc all ya want, but for me, that's the bottom line. MGG

If you have a high ratio of perlite in your coco you can increase run off and not worry about water logging and then not have to worry about flushing too often.

I know it’s a bit off original topic, but i run to waste 15% and use an inline digital flow meter to record stats.

flushing is not the same as less fertigation....

many have stated this yet the term "flush" keeps being used incorrectly.

You guys mean to say I fertigate less at the end...ie: "I use less added fertilizer at the end", not "I run many gallons of water to waste thru my medium at the end."

dude I know says the hormones in coco are good for the plants, that’s why he does it.

lol, sounds like another myth. what hormones? why aren’t they available for the plant while running to waste how is circulating it any more beneficial? how are supposed hormones good for the plant?

where’d u get the flow meter from?

I flush ten to.fourteen days, depending on how heavy a feeder etc, nothing will make me stop either,76

no offense but that's a pretty silly attitude. even if you were given solid science, you wouldn't change your ways? i don't see how a dogmatic attitude is helpful.

i don't have the answer either way, but it's a very interesting topic. i think i probably side with the op, he raised some very good points. but i don't know for sure. i am open to change and new knowledge tho.

It's not dogmatic,i can tell by my own product,i can't get as good asmy own,so why change it?iv tryed not flushin/taperin off on 4 plants,2 years back, product was crap, compared to my normal method,so iv tryed it,thats why I always flush, the other thing is im not organic,so flushing a nescessity,76

I know a lot of guys that say they can taste if weed's been flushed properly and is full chem or not. I’ve never believed it I think its a bit of a fallacy, but different strokes for different folks. Some people are much more sensitive to this kind of thing.

I say if you're really concerned about smoking toxic residues, then don't grow with hardcore chems. BUT even organic uses the same elements and compounds. More of a worry if hydro nutes are contaminated with heavy metals, etc.

You aren't incenerating the pig and inhaling it into your lungs either...are you? Do you think it uses up everything in the soil the same day you stop pouring shit into the dirt from a bottle? I don't think so. As a wise man once said...Im glad I only smoke what I grow.

Also...just wanna throw this out there...too much Mag will make herb burn black and hot as a mutherfuck too. MGG

Unfortunately, all we have in opinion and personal experience. No one has managed to bring verifiable science to the table as the OP requested, so we probably most reach a consensus.

Tell me, what exactly do you think you're eliminating through flushing and why does smoking that worry you?

Some get too wrapped up in "science" and what some book tells them. I've never found that to be useful for me. I'd much rather try something and find out for myself. That, IMO, is the best way to learn. There weren't books filling the shelves and there was no internet when I was learning how to garden so I learned by trial and error.

Like I've said before I'm not a scientist and I don't grow in a lab. I grow weed. I try to grow it as clean as possible as I, and my patients, have real medical problems and the chems and harshness left behind in herb that isn't flushed I have found to irritate my lungs. It is what it is. Some may not be able to tell the difference between flushed and non-flushed herb....some of us can.

As for your last sentence. Again, I give plain water for the last 2-3 times they need some moisture in flower to allow the plant to use up whats already in the pot. Not to "flush" out anything in the pot per se, but to NOT ADD more to the container that the plant wont use before chop.

I don't feel that what I, and many others here, are actually talking about is "flushing" anyway, but rather just not feeding and using plain water the last week-10 days. By definition that isn't "flushing". MGG

Organics going to be as likely if not more to be contaminated with heavy metals.

Um... shit, hell if I can remember! Seriously, I'm drawing a total blank. Not a thread, but I'm sure I've posted about it elsewhere. Shit!
It's ok Sea. I stop fert 3 weeks before harvest. Really I barely use nutes Topped dress 3 weeks into flower and couple tea and fert that's it. Water only last 3 weeks sometimes I get fade some not
