Fogponics. As good or better than Hydro?

That’s my hope brother.

At this point I see no difference in plants over my 4 nute concentrations. Weird. Is fogponics more forgiving? Or maybe the O2? Can’t wait to unpack all this.

Just some random thoughts and observations

These roots seem like they are 10X what the plant needs. The older plants (DP) are developing a huge root system before heading north. They just really started to build nodes.

I'm still leaning the light blue and I just went from 20% to 30% now.

I am seeing what looks to me like an Indica. That was my intention, trying to keep these very tall plants short, but I wonder if I am stunting the growth in any way

I refilled the 4 reses tonight. There seems to be no visual differences in the plants over a PPM range of 300 - 650. I was not expecting that.

I'm going to look at these close tomorrow, and perhaps adjust the lighting.

This is the sensor I am using

https://www.apogeeinstruments.com/content/S2-141-spec-sheet.pdf

The lights are very far away and very low, might be time to heat things up here.

Thanks! I'll try to get a build blog going once I get started. Have been putting the build on hold in wait for some Thread enabled mcus to be released (wanted to combine this with some offline wireless sensor hacking) to be able to easily setup parallel grows/strains controlled by the same master.

Need to put constraints on myself not to over engineer this, just as you this is just for personal use, but I like the idea of expandability and being able to scale up and out to other things as well.

Have you looked into Raspberry Pi? They are stupid expensive right now due to the whole chip shortage thing but full linux os and GPIO pins allowing for I2C or whatever scheme you got up your sleeves.

EDIT: Went back and checked, this is exactly 1 week and 1 day from when I got the seeds wet. I don't remember growth like this before.

EDIT EDIT: @Oldsog here's some fodder for your insta feed.

8 days from the seeds popping?if you have roots like that after 8 days, that sounds about 50% faster than anything I've seen.

I'm actually planning on building a network of wireless ("offline" with thread+matter) parts (pumps, sensors, lighting, fans, ...). All ending up as separate, wirelessly controllable devices with monitoring capabilities.
Should make the system easily expandable in case I'd like to run multiple grows with different nutmixes to compare between them, add additional sensors adhoc, etc. It (should) also makes it rather easy to replace single parts in case of failure.

In addition to this, it also opens up the possibility of controlling multiple tents with the same controller (without having to worry about wiring), in my case the plan is to control it with home assistant (yellow) for starters.

Having a sit down with an old hardware hacking companion of mine tomorrow to plan it further and get the first shopping list done so that we can get the development going..

I've been waiting for the thread certified ESP32 MCU to be released, but it keeps getting postponed so we'll have to plan to use something more readily available.

My only caution on the wireless stuff is that it is not reliable, especially with metalized tent walls and HID ballasts and things like that. My original designs were bluetooth and they did not work 100%. WiFi is better, but still not bulletproof, especially with a power reset. With lights and fans and blowers and pumps and and and there is a lot of noise in a grow space.

It can and coco and hydo can have very similar growth. This is exactly what @Moe.Red and I are working on now… raising o2 above current saturation levels in hydro, aero, fod and soiless

But where does the o2 levels cap at, how much is enough for the root zone?

I'm not happy with how inefficient this system is running. I'm wasting huge amounts of nutes and water. Fog precipitates down and collects in the totes.

Now that I have my temps under control, I think I don't need the inner res. Just recirculate. So the very bottom of the roots will be DWC and the top 15" will be fogponics.

But the plants are going bonkers, so there's that.

I've been brining up the PPFD and I just pulled out all the fem seeds, so down to 6 viable Durban Poison regs.

Time to flip them and take clones and see what I end up with. Hopefully there are a couple females there.

The roots on these things are insane. It's like they are prepping to take you up to the giant in the sky.

Oh-BTW - that exhale bag is doing a whole lotta nothing.

I had to stop reading their website once I read "patented mycelium." So they bred two oyster mushrooms together

For the record, I do believe you can supply a grow room with mushrooms growing their mycelium. I just think it has to be a room of probably equal or greater volume as the grow room, producing at full capacity.

Here’s one of the seedlings

Moved her over to the RDWC tonight so I could flip the regs to flower. Exactly 2 weeks old today. Nice growth huh?

I didn’t get pics of the older ones but I’ll post them up tomorrow

Funny you should say that. I actually grow mushrooms too. I think the fact you never fruit them has something to do with additional CO2. I’ve had 200pounds growing in the same basement as my tents and still needed to inject co2

Currently about 3x atmospheric o2 levels still? correct.
