I'm actually planning on building a network of wireless ("offline" with thread+matter) parts (pumps, sensors, lighting, fans, ...). All ending up as separate, wirelessly controllable devices with monitoring capabilities.
Should make the system easily expandable in case I'd like to run multiple grows with different nutmixes to compare between them, add additional sensors adhoc, etc. It (should) also makes it rather easy to replace single parts in case of failure.
In addition to this, it also opens up the possibility of controlling multiple tents with the same controller (without having to worry about wiring), in my case the plan is to control it with home assistant (yellow) for starters.
Having a sit down with an old hardware hacking companion of mine tomorrow to plan it further and get the first shopping list done so that we can get the development going..
I've been waiting for the thread certified ESP32 MCU to be released, but it keeps getting postponed so we'll have to plan to use something more readily available.
