Far out Ken, can those plants look any more perfect??
Doesn't look like there's a single blemish on those girls.
Stellar work...

What's the natural soil like where you are?

Thanks Naga :) The soil here is mostly decomposed granite with a shit load of composted oak leaves and grass.
I have been growing in boxes and beds in that same area with the same potting soil and soil i made from composting years ago. I do the "no till gardening" method :)
And Ive Composted 4 years worth of old roots right there in the beds. Often while another plant grows right in the composting roots of the plant before it. I grow almost year round
And the soil beneath has been getting nute and bennie run off for 4 years also.
My soil is alive :)

That soil sounds great!
Why are you worried about them getting root bound then?
Once they hit the bottoms of the beds, their roots will just move straight into the natural soil.
After being enriched for the past 4 years, they're sure to love it!

:)
Its the roots that hit the sides that i worry about
They all seem to be happy for now though . :)
Im going with bigger (wider) beds next year.

Ah OK I get you now.
Don't think you need to worry though, roots hit objects all the time and just go around them...
In your case, they'll hit the sides, then travel down...down to freedom LOL
:woot: thats what I want to hear ! Thanks! ;)

I invented something I call "Hydro Pruning"....:D
I squrit the hose along the inside edges of the boxes and force the soil and roots downward,
kinda air prunes the roots near the top few inches the bed...lol

I'm loving the way you grow your raised bed with the size of your plant, it helps you water perfectly according to their growth!!!

Can hydro pruning apply also when I spray my girls a little too hard and branches snap? Water Pruning!

ouch :)
No! Only break the little branches off!
I think the weight of the water strengthens the plants..
I just rolled a fatty to smoke while I spray mine down..
Maybe a will get a couple photos of the wet girls :)

And strengthens em absolutely but absolutely strain dependent, I spray my ladies a lot, sometimes I run the sprinkler mounted on a pole up high on em for hours...but my sfv, well she's a bitch and snaps if you look at her wrong!

AWESOME thread.. just finished checking it out. Such well grown plants.
For someone with only a little experience seeing plants so big and healthy is inspirational.

I dont like thos kinda plants:banghead:
I have NOT had good luck with OG's :bag:..Those are hard for me.
I dont like lanky plants that dont hold themselves up in veg. :depressed:

Thats why waited, and then, only popped 3 of the Big E og.
and Thats why im depping two of them small..
I think OG's might do better as smaller plants...

But Waayne said the Big E might be something special..
So, Thats pretty exciting :)
