Hey @Saint Skinny, I've only fed them a very tiny bit - I put about 1/8 tsp of some "root booster" nutes into a gallon of ph'd water and used that to water them two nights ago. I used regular water yesterday, then I used the root booster mix again to water this morning - just light spraying to keep the soil wet.

When do you usually start feeding them nutes?

I mainly wanted to just test out how adding nutes and ph-ing the water worked, and to see if the little guys could take it or if I could see a response or any toxicity, but also, unfortunately, I left all 8 T5s on for a few hours yesterday (instead of 4), and got back from work and the temperature in the tent was about 100 degrees F!

I freaked out a bit, and got the temp back down, but they look OK nonetheless!! And maybe it grew a little extra because of it.

I'm aiming to use as little nutes as possible until I understand more about how the plant grows (also since I still just have those Monsanto nutes), and since they're still small I'm going to continue with just the 4 bulbs on and alternate regular water and root-boosted water, for another week or so - then maybe I'll try to ease into a light nute regimen.

These little plants are so cool!!

Peace!

.............."Rapid Start," actually, the nute is called, "Rooting enhancer." Just a tiny bit, 1/8-1/4 tsp or so in a gallon, and I used it again for their water tonight. Taking it slow, would rather use less than more.............

They're coming along well!! Have temps running regular around 80-85F lights on, more humid in the tent these days actually, can be reading closer to 60-70% when I check on them. It's been about one week now since they popped up from the soil!

Grow on!

Peace!

Oh shit, now were gettin some growth! lol they look pretty happy.

Personally I wouldn't have fed them at all for the first thirty days. FFOF has enough nutes for about that long. and just in case you weren't aware, Rapid start is salt based, salt based nutes are no bueno to your microbes, which are a huge part of the natural soil food web, and plants usually respond best with something replicating nature IMHO, you can't exactly recreate nature, but you can make the roots feel more at home, so to speak

......Interesting! Thank you very much for that info @Saint Skinny!

Gee I don't know much about nutes and all the chemistry and stuff, so that's good to know - I'll probably hold back on using any more nutes then for the next couple weeks and just use water.

I've only used about 1/2 of the gallon that I put the rapid start in, so hopfully any damage to the soil was minimal. I have some Sugar Cane mix with sugar and molasses in it, so if anything starts looking bad, I could try to remedy with that I guess.

But they're coming along well, for sure, I'm super excited, and I'll grab some photos again later tonight.

Peace!

with the way they're growing, I'll bet its gettin easier to believe my plant sprouted 12.21, eh? when they're happy, they show it!
throw some earthworm castings in there (if you can get any) and it will reinoculate lots of the microbeasties. Some people assume EWC (earth worm castings aka da good poo) tea is for nutrients... While it does provide some Nitrogen and maybe a couple other things, its real benefit is in the Microbeasties. Thats what people are putting cane sugar/molasses in their bacterial teas for, its food for the Microherd to grow, so it can decomp the organic matter and make the nutrients available to the plant.

Oh, good Lordie, these little girls are starting to give off a scent!!!! Just very faint, and fresh, but boy, it is Heavenly!!

Grown On!!

Had let the soil get dry the past couple days, and I gave them a good watering last night - have also been trying to keep all 8 T5s on for around 8 hours or so a day, with the other 4 going on all 20 hours (still 20/4). That's so I can just keep an eye on it while the extra lights are on, and the plants were pretty small before, so I was testing the light strength, but I'm thinking about going to all 8 T5s all day soon. I just have to re-figure my electric plugs, since I turn the exhaust fan on when all 8 T5s go on, since that keeps it down around 85F, since I still keep the lights just a few inches from the tops of the plants, it can get pretty hot without enough circulation, as I found out one day earlier around 100F.

Grow On! Peace!

..........Weekend update!

The girls are doing well! Made the switch to all 8 T5 bulbs on all day now at 20/4, and they seems to have taken it well. Also let the soil get totally dry last couple days and a gave a good watering today. Monday will begin week 3.

Grow On!

...........They look a little droopy in these pics because for the past few times I've taken the pics right before watering! And I've certainly noticed an uptick in these girls' water needs! Now they seem to need a good half gallon split between the two at least every two days, and even that is a little long, maybe every other day.

They look much better after watering them though, so maybe I'll grab some photos from after watering next time. They're seemingly happy girls!

Grow On! Begin Week 3!

Peace!

.....actually I think I counted wrong, I'm getting the weeks confused!

Today marks beginning of week 4!

And the completion of three full weeks since sprouting! Aka, day 21!

I'll see how they look at the end of this week, and either one or two more weeks left hopefully before switching them to flower and adding in the HPS. Maybe I'll transplant to their larger pots end of this week and let them go another week before switching to 12/12.

Peace!
