I would say the minimum requirement is 3 x 3. To me that would be considered a small tree.

Look at gettogros trees, DS, DD, Deacon, TK (his outdoor trees), Tom Hill, etc.. Those to me are trees. When you can hide behind it, it's a tree. LOL,

I think indoor trees are done in like 20 gal smarties, UC 13xl, MPB, DIY UC 30 gal (GG), etc..

I'm thinking of switching from a dozen 5 gallon buckets to six 27 gallon tuffboxes, still in the same 8x8 space under 4kW of hps in Magnum ochos. Should I consider other changes if I want to do small trees in this space? What might those changes be?

Proud to be a TREE MAN !! I'm in the final production stages of what should be a great movie here on the Farm.. I just bought a 12X32 Utility building, as the small residential rooms and garages are too small for these UC systems and MPBs.. I just finished my second run using 21 gal totes, 3" PVC, 1HP Chiller, etc, etc.. So, the new grow will be a 12 site DIY UC using 20 gallon ROUND (Rubbermaid Garbage bins) but with flat tops either from commercial line or hommeade to hold 8" net pots.. Thinking of 12 1K in air cooled (one for each plant), then stacking verticles in middle and something on a long loght rail on outside runs.. Two rows, much like Q9 is running now, but with rails on outside rows.. 24K total on 12 plants.. Looking at 4 Ton A/C tomorrow. Updates Coming Soon ~!~!~
