I am so stoked that you've got things back on track! Very nice work brah... Now I want one of those cool microscopes cuz my camera can't take micros that close... :thinking

So,
were the roots on the plant in question not in the solution deep enough after lowering the level?
Did you have a hot spot on that plant? Did you use a temp gun?
I agree about the little stuff. The best way for me is to spend as much time with the plants as possible, so you are familiar with all of the subtleties that change in them.

I think the roots and water level were just fine, the discoloration was from the roots being exposed to air, nothing more than that. Yes I do use a laser temp gun on everything from plants to electrical connections. I have a good idea of what a healthy plant looks like but this RDWC is new to me so not taking anything for granted. Lots of great people here helping out, so I just need to stop making noob mistakes, well live and learn right. I consider myself a good organic dirt farmer, well maybe a little better than good, but there are big differences between the two. Some of the rules in dirt go out the window with RDWC.

Well the drama is over and I am wiser. Total cost of my fubar 1 plant. Thank's for all the people that tried to help out.

Lesson learned

1) brown color on the roots does not mean root rot, it was because I lowered the water in the buckets.

2) when the tops of your plants are falling over and very limp check humility and heat from lights.

3) Pay attention to the little stuff.

Funny typo/Freudian slip.

Glad to hear they are back on track. Dig the scope pix and love the pink.purple trichs.

:giggle Awesome catch.

Do you guys happen to know if those USB scopes can be used with the Linux platform? Everything I read talks about Windows and Mac.

Thanks bro it works not bad, it is one of the better ones and also has adjustable leds for lighting. I think I paid 99$ Canadian at

here is a review

The stand it comes with is light duty and I found trying to take pics with it almost impossible as when you push the button the scope moves.sucks so I attached it to my stereo lab microscope.

. It comes with Windows drivers, although the instruction manual states that Mac and Linux software is available upon request.

Thanks! Check out that other one, RM. Kind of a... what would you call it? Free-standing unit? All-in-one? Tell me whatcha think.

Well I pulled the plant I killed, it looks so sad. I did not want to leave it in there as it might cause me problems the the others, boy if I lose a plant evey time I screw up I better get a bigger system with more than 10 pods, that way I will still have some plants left. Will post a pic later.

Flip to Flower

Well did a few things in the room today and put a hydrometer in the hall. The reading was 58% so all this time all I had to do was open the door and drop a fan in. I put the trellis up and when coming down from the ladder I knocked the auto feed spigot out or the 50 gal res. water pouring out all over but stuck my finger in the hole and put it back, I think about 4 gal came out, don't sound like much but it would surprise you. I put some panda around my res just to make sure no algae could grow, put a new fan up but don't like it, to slow. Here are the pics of the dead plant I was in a dark room for 25 hours then I took the pics. On ward and upward now to tend to my organic garden, I just water it that's all.

if I had a nickel for every time I flood... well anyway. Good luck gettin er going again..

Ouch! That's a bummer about the bad plant and water, but it happens to the best of us... Keep your head held high! Too bad you can't move the plants adjacent to each other and temporarily adjust your lighting for this round... :thinking

Cover that hole up with Panda or a netpot full of hydroton.

Sucks about the plant and the flood (just had one myself...).

I thought of moving the plant but it is very happy where it is and I thought I'll just leave it. I'm going to run three 1000w MH and two 1000w HPS.

I sent Daniel at UC an update on my progress and he suggested I add some DM Zone to give me some extra protection so will do so tonight. Plants don't look so good kind of dull leaves, thinking of changing out the res?

So I decided to change out the res and move to flower food and some zone. I hope this will resolve some of the issues I'm having.

best thing you could have done...now you will get back on track..you should never lose plants like that because "the water level" LOL all the other plants were fine(but starting to catch it too)...remember to add zone when you add back too.
