I'll fish both...I just adore snook and grouper is as good as it gets...but then again, mahi is so good they named it twice...my boat, bought for me in 1958 had a run in with a bag of fertilizer...the aluminum floor now has a hole the size of a soccerball in it...a piece of time, silicone sealant, and some rivets and I'm back in the river...

I pretty much started out with a completed and fully restored "show" quality car and trashed it not too long ago...my idea of a quality build ain't close to what the previous owner thought...I went into the shop today and gutted the engine compartment...need to do a little body work on the radiator support and then degrease and repaint what's left...seems andre, the last owner didn't think it would matter it he painted over grease and dirt if you couldn't see it...kinda like not worrying about root aphids cause they ain't on the flowers...well, not really but you get my drift...he's the before and where I walked away from today pics...tomorrow the engine compartment sould be pretty zippy...tons of rewiring and new suspension, new steering gear, ratio, sector, pump, 2 core radiator, and 602 angry horsepower...geez, what a greaser 'eh...there was 45 years of grime and scum packed around the brake lines...it was so bad you couldn't see the spiral wrapped spring...thers still a ton of shit on the backs of the brackets it you look close...all that has to go before I clear coat it

I know what you mean Boo. I'm a firm believer in if your not going to do it right....just don't do it. I have been known to pull an inner primary off to get at grease & dirt. Looking forward to watching this progress.

just in for a quick sammich break...I'm blown away but the restorers mentality...I bet I got 10 pounds of grease and krud from the last 45 years...this car was in georgia at one point in it's life...found most of the krud to be painted red clay...

And they claimed it was a body off restoration? I'd be pissed!

this is what kicked my ass today...monday I paint the bitch and move on to the fun work...I musta sanded, scraped, and solvent cleaned 20 pounds of crap off the undersides of the car...the green stuff is a high tech etching primer...
006
I have about 1 hour of final prep and the paint goes down...satin on the chassis, semi flat on the tin...that big orange thing is a very angry and violent 602 hp motor...

actually I found one in much better shape, fully optioned, a/c, and numbers matching last year...the owner had 150,000 in it and wanted at least 75K for his ride...as far as I know he still owns it...I sure like it but won't go that deep into that ride...

slowly but surely the heap is taking shape...spent alot of time doing mundane shit like re installing stainless steel staples thru the body holes to install frame flaps to keep dirt outta the engine compartment...wiring, figuring out the "custom" wiring the asshat what did the car installed...slow but necesssary stuff...wires gotta go to the right location or the car will burn...that's not a good thing...don't look like mutch but we got alot done today...

Great job there Boo, You can always she who does good work by the little details they fail to miss and you seem to spot on bro looks like factory work like it should be. I seen too many cars that I like to call polished turds, look good on the outside But under the hood and body it looks like a turd..

Seems easier to do it right from the start when you completely build from scratch., great job, better than factory new...
That's what my mechanic did on my custom rod and it looks like the same color....
Only issue must reroute fuel line....
Vapor locking at 1/4 tank.
easy fix...Hopefully...
Will rent a hoist and get under.....

thanks for the kind words fellas...the asshat who did the job originally painted over dirt and shit all over the place...I'm doing the best I'm gonna do without pulling the sub frame...I've done the national show car circuit, complete waste of time...I won 49 consecutive national indoor coloseium events and for what...a freakin trophy and bragging rights...not any more...I collect valuable cars and drive nice ones...the silver ride is built to flog...object it to use no chrome, keep as close to factory as possible keeping in mind this is a true SS/RS big block car but the numbers don't match, and making it haul ass...that nice new steering gear is trick...factory gearing was 4.5 turns stop to stop...this one is 2.5...stuff like auburn posi, c-clip eliminators, strange axles...all necessary stuff to make thing happen...you don't know what lurks under the skin

Before you do that Check if any fuel line touching the engine or any part of the engine I had similar problem the feed line from the mechanical fuel pump was touching the radiator hose and as soon the engine gets warm the engine will act up till I put a little piece if exhaust wrap around the feed hose and it solved it
