Good on 'ya Gritty! Seems to me there are two basic approaches to using coco, amended or non-amended. Unamended, like Canna or Botanicare, is just a medium (like rockwool) for hydro. Amended, like Roots Organics, is like a soil-less, more breathable soil, yet still technically hydro. Good results w/ both. Some run it w/ every feeding.

I believe the most essential additive in coco a cleansing solution: FloraKleen/Drip Clean. I run it as a "preventative maintenance watering" once a week now, but it's fixed any salt buildup/lockout issue right away w/ only one or two waterings.

Yeah I'm interested to figure out how often I should flush or what kind of drip systems can avoid that build up....who knows. Picked up some botanicare coco today cuz they were outta the other shit. We will see how this stuff is...

Whoops, I meant to say some run the Drip Clean w/ every feeding. I don't, I like to either feed or flush, and FYI I'm running handwatered DTW w/ no runoff. I first had probs w/ buildup & lockout in coco. Then I read that Zoolander did straight water every 3rd feeding so I started doing water + FloraKleen every 4th day (3 days nutes, 1 day flush). Bot a tru flush mind you, just a no-runoff watering. Worked great but I knew it was probably excessive or, in other words, only a good starting point. This was for veg. Next run I'll push this to once per week. But if you're using a res/drip you may just try to add it as part of your normal mix & it might prevent buildup/lockout thruoghout the whole cycle.

have fun in the coco gritty its the bomb bomb .....

try adding some bat shit worm castings etc at the end for flavor/body

very few people can tell the diff between organic/dirt and coco with a splash of bat shit etc...

you will be happy with the yield and end product ....

Gotcha, thanks bro, I will look into that once I get a res going. So far things have been good. With coco I do water to run off. I will probably using a soil method my homies use, where they prewash soak soil to saturate, then come back and saturate with feed. To me that sounds like it would work perfect in coco.....

No doubt bro, thats good to hear. Think my coco ladies will kill in the vert room. Probably will transplant tonite...and all the lil one gal C99's will go into 2g coco today and will veg for another week or so before bloomage... good luck on the harvest bro. Folks that got that bud candy dialed are all sayin the same thing- HELLA trichs and flavor. Lemme know what ya think about the KushieKush- i liked its make up, but looks like if you use kushie kush you can drop some things as its just a stronger additive than some of the others they have (slightly higher value of pk i believe).... looks solid. Lemme know how it works with the Connie nutes...

What up broseph! Yeah it should be killer, I'm already liking it over the soil plants because these ladies don't seem to have the normal little irritations plants get in soil...i can dig it.

Yeah Medz was sayin to toss some guano late for flavor in these bad girls... Will be using Hammerhead so not sure if it'll be needed or too much....especially with the MOAB at the end (say everything gets cut in half whne ya add MOAB...wowser.lol)...

Yeah I'm super stoked for the first ladies in bloom to finish, I'm the sure the product will be much different than the same plant in soil!

Start to just before finish, for me on that stuff, and this run I'm including malted barley extract and molasses (alternately, and not daily) in the hopes I get the same flavor I did from last year's OD buds.

Indeed, gonna be rocking the Bud Candy and Hammerhead for both of those issues.... and the flower girls are getting both right now at about 5-6ml/g.....

Went ahead and said fuck it last night.....transplanted all the C99's to 2g pots and hit the whole room with the new veg mix using the AN 3part....

So far I had been using the basic Canna A/B feeding schedule set forth a while back by the homie Zoolander (where you at bro?), where he was maxing at about 7ml/g each of A/B. I'm already at 5-6ml/g in veg and 7-8ml/g in flower and they all look to be way light.... with 7ml/g with calplex and roots excel the PPM is around 550-600.

Today went with the 1-1-1 on the AN 3pt....at like 1/2-1/3 of their suggested feeding and that put me at around 650ppm with Calplex and Roots Excel...hopefully they don't burn, and just catch up... the 2g pots made a hella difference in training....these girls will be beasts and will hit the bloom room as soon as the tahoes finish.....

I also picked up AN's Final Phase to start working in once a week as chelate flush for the babies and big girls....we'll see how that works out. lol.

That sounds just about perfect to me. You can run that strength basically all the way through flower. sounds like they are just about ready to explode :mad0233: :sun2: :mad0233:

Thats not a half bad idea Fader. Especially if you have hard water or want to pump up the ppm. I've had lots of problems with salt build up and coco in the past. I've never used a cleansing solution but thats something to keep in mind. I find that in coco low ppm and lots of runoff prevents salt build up fairly well. In general my plants prefer ppms around 650.

Dub- Thanks bro! Oh yeah I'm loving it already...though I'm not as dialed quite yet, the vigor and growth on the plants is phenomenal!!

Yeah I'm thinkin with the bud candy and hammerhead, that should put me around 900-1000 in flower and thinkin that will be killer for a daily feed. Right now in bloom with the Canna nutes and additives they are sitting at about 700ppm daily.

After a day with the AN, honestly, the veggers look hella better. No visible burn thus far, even with an overnight switch....and actually better looking plants. I will stick with that regimen for a while and start to get it dialed.

As for the the "flushing", I emailed AN about using final phase once a week, but decided fuck it, gotta be the same shit as anything else so I will flush the ladies with that manana.....

Talked to AN support today, and of course they recommended not using it til flush. Of course they just suggest ro+cal for weekly flushes...fuck it, i dont believe anyone when it comes to nutes anyways. lol. We'll see how things look in a week, I figured if anything it will suck up the canna nutes and let me start chunking the AN at em...

The veg plants that started on the AN regimen look hella better....actually I could spot the ones using AN and the ones that hadnt yet....hopefully the trend continues. Will post pics manana of the C99's blowing up in there new homes....

TG,

After seeing you in that mask, I'm gonna start calling you El MOTAdor :character0029:

Questions for you.

I have gone clone only for years, just got some bean packs and want to start germinating.

What is your process with germinating beans?

I noticed that the party cups have straight coco?

Good looks and keep up the incredible work :rollj:

LOL!!!! El Motador! I dig it!! haha....where'd ya see that one? in the old hazey thread? Know true was gonna use it for some article....that lady was a 1lb plant!

So when i do seeds I go get the little Jiffy plastic germ tubs....toss out the jiffy pucks. Get some Rapid Rooters and make sure they are slight moist...not drippin. Poke a lil hole and put the seed about 1/4 down with correct orientation. Put the jiffy dome back on and put em under a 24 cfl or floro. Bout 3 days later you got sprouts...i pretty much get a 98% germ with that method. From there you can transplant to your medium.

This round of seeds i just germ'd i think i will keep em in rapid rooters and in the tray as long as possible. I will probably need more trays to spread out and prevent root tangling in the tubs but if they can go a leaf set in the rooter pre-transplant I think i can feed them harder in the coco.

I know this is a silly question, but this is the germ tub you speak of?

When keeping them moist, are you using just water or adding mild nutriends to the mix? Do you pre soak the Rapid rooters?

Nope not quite the same tray... go hit up home depot, they got little 12 site jiffy rooter things. Black plastic on the bottom and clear up top. They fit upside down rapid rooters freakin perfect!! Pop 12 per. Then once they get to the top of that dome, I put 3-4 of those little trays in one of the larger clone trays so they have space to stretch...this time though I will push the t5 right on em and have stack short in the rooters hopefully.

As for moistness on the rooters- I only pre-soak rooters when I use them for cloning. Otherwise its just too moist and the seeds will mush if they aren't vigorous....think of it this way, a clone will throw hella roots and suck it up, the seedling is just starting, doesn't need too much...I usually just get a bottle of RO water and mist the rapid rooters, give them a squeeze to make sure water isn't dripping off then pop seeds in. I use just plain RO until i see roots then I mist the cubes with RO + HG Roots Excel. This time once they get roots, each strain will get a mini tub with AN nutes hella light....I saw plants that PJDZ did in rooters under cfl's until they were 10" tall with like 4-5 leafsets, he said the rooters just air pruned the roots and as long as he kept em moist and fed they were happy....and trust me they were happy! Be back with pics....

Here are some C99 ladies getting ready to be transplanted and tied down...starting to curl a bit...need more root space....everything i transplanted so far has just amazed me at the healthy white root growth fillin the containers!! Ill grab pics of the big cindies manana.... and if you can see the fat ass leaves creepin the bottom of the pic...thats a sexy PureKush r&d from my homie medz....pics to come once sexed...
