May I ask what your feeding schedule was, as well as the length of your wet dry cycle?

I have a feeling she was too wet down low. Seems the plant stunted. I’m certain when you pull that plant, maaaaaybe 40% of the pot wil have not been colonized by roots.
For that plant, that’s a bit large a pot….is that a 5 or a 3?

There were 5 gal and I think definitely stunted like you say.

I think that was due to those 2/3 weeks they all had at around 50'F over Xmas.

All good learning though. Definitely going 3 gal for next run. And means can grow more strains!

@Captspaulding I was thinking more about your question and wasn't sure whether you meant the soil as well which came slightly prepped and I prepped top soil further. I'll stick up what that has in it tomorrow for you as well.

In the meantime, whilst the FF dries and cures, here are some more pics of the Newberry and SMC bonsai! 😉

Look at the purple trunk and and branches on that Newberry, love it! It's so sticky as well.

Both still got a while to go so on we potter... 🙃

Starting to prep for my next grow but think I'll start a new thread and then that can be the continuous grow thread for myself.

I'm eyeing up 5x3gal (all autos) in the 3x3 tent but maybe should just be 4x3gal? Then I'd like to to do one 10gal outdoor photoperiod for the full season (so a little more time to get that ready). A classic strain maybe so thinking Northern Lights or similar. Open to any suggestions of course (growing in SoCal).

Oh and i nearly forgot, to bring this thread nearly full circle, the wife has said I can get a B I G G E R tent! The garage is mine to do whatever I wish with. W00h00! But now I'm not sure what to go for...lol! 3x3 currently, 4x4 doesn't seem that much of a jump so maybe much (much!) bigger? 😄

Hey dude!
Congrats on the more canopy space. Think strategically, it’s not always about the size of your area, but what you can do with it. I would again suggest you look into multiple chamber situation. Whether that be a huge 8x4 for blooming with your current 4x4 for veg, and maybe a smaller area for cloning and nursery.
I know you’re all about your autos right now, but you may grow to resent that seed cost, and the lost opportunities of photo periods.

Bud look real nice man. Is that purple stock a pheno type? I do know that red / purple stems can also be indicative of magnesium deficiency in the grow.

Keep going man.

Thanks man and yes, definitely need to think strategically here and not just go bigger for sake of it and grow more (although will of course). Multiple chambers sounds like a grand plan, I'll start that other thread and put some of my thoughts and what I'm looking at in there.

I'm also definitely up for trying the photos but not sure I'm experienced enough yet or maybe I'm holding myself back (it's basically hours of light when it comes down to it!) Maybe one more auto run as i have so many bloody seeds and then can mix and match going forward. When you say lost opportunities, what do you mean - unable to clone etc?

The purple is a pheno type, at least according to their site: https://twistedtreeautoflowers.com/product/newberry-auto/

Phew!

Very sweet on the purp phenom. Really vivid and color coloring.

Not just clone and breeding, but also there is lost opportunity in yield production. With longer veg periods (60-90 days) you can get photo period plant to produce upwards of 12-16 ounces. Most auto growers I hear from are getting 4-6 ounces per plant. (I’m sure people push More, not trying to start a fight here). You are also able to manipulate and top / super crop the plant more with autos are they flower when you say so.
I personally like the ability to control all aspects of the grow definitely including when the flowers bloom. Just food for thought.

No fight here at all, I'm all ears for all advice. 🙃

That's really interesting and good food for thought. 👍

And the purple I hadn't noticed at all till yesterday so not sure when they changed. Beautiful like you say though,

Oh I know no fight from you, just I’ve notice thread bombers from time to time quibbling about broad statements; like in general yields are less from autos then photos. But the counter argument being that you get more cycles in with autos. Which is all well and good when you have endless seeds. When I first started out everything had to be cheap cheap, so the 8-12 dollar price point for autos and fems really turned me off. Then I discovered breeding and making your own seeds is a real hoot,

Right time for a quick update. The Froot Fuel is now done its dry/cure in the magic machine and ooh it is a delicious, smooth smoke. Very gassy with a hint of fruit in there on the back end with a nice relaxing, easy head and body high, lovely stuff. The cure continues.

I got 30g dry from 129g wet so very happy with that if I'm honest after all the shenanigans. I know, I know not much compared to all you experienced growers but seeing as I stunted the shit out of them before and over Christmas before getting back on track I'll happily take that.

Next up the Newberry is getting close, so sticky if you even just brush it and the SMC is giving off some nice fade. I'll post some pics once I've trimmed the Newberry a little later.

Now then, here's the pre and post little trim for the other two. They are getting close.

The SMC is lovely but cracks me up. It's like a proper little bonsai now.

We're getting close. I'm seeing amber but, as ever, second guessing myself whether enough and if the rest are all milky (enough). Feels like not.

My shaky hand (tm) with the loupe does not help but I have a solution coming tomorrow.

Been doing little more prep for next grow and running around but I'll start the new thread for that, like I keep promising. Maybe tomorrow?

Ok, so I'll give you all one guess what I got today? 😄

Absolutely amazing and I bought one after reading a brilliant tip on reddit to get it held steady. I can finally, finally eliminate the bane of my life - shakey hand (tm). Which causes me all sort of problems when trying to use my loupe or take any photos of the plants and particularly peer at the trichonomes up close. Especially useeful for deciding harvest time!

I think we're extremely close if not ready to go chopping.

p.s. The tip was...buy a mic stand and you can attach the microscope to that and hey presto, no more shaking! Genius.
p.p.s. It was a cheap as chips micropscope from Amz ($30) and a mic stand ($16). Happy to link if anyone interested.

See, I actually think I should be chopping now looking at them but I said I would wait till Sunday as a good friend is bringing his plants over to chop as I kindly offered to dry and cure them in the Cannatrol for him. Yes, yes, I bloody bought one! It's amazing but that's another discussion to be had.

Does anyone think another 4/5 days will be that detrimental to mine or just gonna be more sleepy amber?

Thoughts?
