Grow diary mission impossible (low to medium budget lol)

Man there has got to be something... like what if you got cannabis sap on a string for the bait and put a poison at the top? On the theory that the bugs would attempt to colonize the strong smells and die?

There's going to be a point when you want to stop spraying shit. Get the bottled mites not the sachets. In my case it was too little too late but the little fuckers lived for a while after I got them, like 4 or 5 weeks.

I've tried some of the bugs, (ladybugs and lacewings) but couldn't keep them in the confines of the greenhouse or yard. Lacewings seemed to last longer but not much. I do have naturally occurring praying mantis but they won't stop the bud worms (moth larvae) which do the most damage outside.

I do have several species of wasps and hoover flies but none can keep pace with an aphid population explosion.

For me it's neem once every other week to control aphids, spider mites and PM in veg and then switching to BT for the last 4-5 weeks and washing down plants before harvest.

I have used the soap srays, purchased and diy, none work well.

Diatomaceous earth makes a mess but easy to wash off after a week or two and works okay for the main bugs but will kill any/all good bugs too.

Sulfer I still use on a jasmine plant that gets scale every spring. It's a powder and I've never used it on weed. I've only read about burniming sulfer and haven't tried as it seems too complicated and potentially dangerous and what I'm doing is working.

H202 is new to me and have only tried it a couple times during veg. Works well and I'll keep using it more in place of the neem.

These 2, neem and BT break down quick. Once mixed neem only lasts for a couple days becoming weaker and weaker and should be used within 24 hours. Same with BT. Now you don't ever want to spray and harvest, not even within a day or two. I usually give my plants a spray of BT and then won't harvest for at least 1-2 weeks and then a shower.

If I fail to maintain this Intergrated Pest Management (IPM) schedue I will lose flower, mostly to bud worms and the following bud rot. I'm currently smoking a GDP x BBHP cross that was finishing this past Nov/Dec when my wife ended up in the hospital for a ruptured appendix and I was unable to spray and I lost several ounces to bud rot. It's extremely irritating after 4-5 months of growing and care and a plant that has rocked my world.

No grower wants to spray their plants with anything but if you grow outside and fail to protect the plants you're gonna lose a lot of flower and I'm not growing this plant to suply the entire bug population with food. The bastards can DIE😉

N

Neem works because its sticky not because they eat it.oil covers the little ones soo they cant move and flying ones cant fly off.

Hey did you try nutmeg in soil?
If bud worms eat any plant material sprayed with neem they stop eating😉 and why I continue using it into flower but yeah, aphids, spider mites, thrips, etc all get coated with the oil mix and suffocate and so will any beneficial insects. Always spray anything early morning or after sunset.

Its cheap as fuck and you can use it for cooking soo why not try
I've read about these but never made any and I grow peppers every year, this year habaneros. I made a sauce that's really HOT. Had a little on my tacos last night and bet it would make a good bug spray. I'm gonna have to make a bit and see😉 Maybe in a soap base mix. I'll have to do some research. This stuff will remove paint and then stain anything it touches red🤣

I think one of the problems with spraying is getting complete coverage! If you don’t, they rebound pretty quick! And they can hide in pretty small places! Hope you can keep them under control!😁
🐻 I believe chucky wins the prize on this debate. There’s no product out there that works unless it gets on the plant. It’s why dunking is so popular because everything gets covered.
Personally I use an airless paint sprayer. I understand they aren’t cheap but…you’re seeing the alternatives and they ain’t cheap either. Quick check and you can get one for $29 @ Wally World. Be a wise investment for an indoor grow

Good to know, thanks! I’ve heard of cayenne pepper for like ants and some pest, but I’m sure too strong like anything else and it can burn the plant lolol

I’m having a few thrips trying to make their way into the space. I bought some lady bugs but I couldn’t keep them alive lol
Then I got some pirate bugs and these sorry mofos get stuck in the resin of the bud lmaooooooo
Basil and marigold don’t work as deterenys for thrips. So I’m going back to the ol neem on top of the sool every few days until their cycle breaks. But maybe the key is a little nutmeg!! Haha
I’m placing an order Friday for some predator mites from natures good guys. Really want to see how they perform. I’m need of the extra assistance at the moment hahaha!

Im going to give these nature mites a try. If that doesn’t work I’m cleaning out the 50gal trash bucket and performing a soak/dunk. You guys are both right! And I’ve been detrimentally stubborn on this one!🤦🏼‍♂️🤣

I’d wind up out there chasing it around in a circle!😆

Here is what I use every 10 days now. Plug it in and close the door. Exhaust is still on medium. Fan is on low.
After an hour I hold my breath and run in, unplug ot, run away LMAO 😉

No bugs of any kind and NO WPM!!! 👍🏼

I honestly don't know much about burning sulfer but thought I'd read to use it only once and only in veg🤔

I don't care if this works, it uses weird equipment and probably smells like ass. The only thing that could be better is LOUD.
I like it.
