Hello Farmers! I'm getting back to my roots and doing things the hard way again. Circumstances prevent me from growing in the house so the shit show will be in the backyard now. Space and resources are limited so this thread will mostly be about making the best out of a difficult situation.

I have a 4 by 6 resin shed from Costco, a 2 by 4 tent, spider farmer sf-2000 and Cali lightworks uv-b. Two 4" AC infinity fans for intake and exhaust and a small circulation fan to handle air movement. The intake and exhaust are piped directly outside bypassing the shed entirely. I'm going to try to run positive pressure in this setup in an attempt to mitigate the effects of hot air in the tent and help keep critters out.

That's about as far as I've got and will finish assembling it today. Hopefully in a week it will be tuned up and ready for some plants.

Not only a growing fool, but a tech fool too! šŸ˜Ž BRAVO!!!

strongly considering making a drip system! : ) was just concerned about getting the drip rate correct to let the soil absorb the proper amount, and so its not just running through? Every time i even seriously consider this, thats the thought that talks me out of doing it. Would like 5 single drippers spaced between the edge of the pot and the stem be enough to saturate everything? Im thinking it would take hours to drip water and feed in? Would love to try it though. : )
I also dislike constant dripping so I use rings to deliver larger amounts 2X a day when they're young and then after that it depends on how much they're drinking. You just need a digital timer you can set down to the second. Typical feed is like 5-8 seconds with my pumps and the length of the run.

And I just happened to be pulling all that stuff out!!!

Hell yeah! Would take a watering cycle to play with it but dude im pumped right now! Going to look into a timer : ) thank you for the info! ā¤ļøāœŒļø

Getting a mock up version ready. Gotta make sure the length of run from the pump to each ring is about the same, or even with the valves it gets tricky to get equal water distribution in just a few seconds.

It's also way easier to do even numbers of pots.

Well that was quite the adventure. Hopefully my love of fuckery isn't the only thing that burns this all down to the ground! šŸ”„

So I'm gonna mix the red bucket inside the house and just pump it into the rez. Maybe if I want an extended vacation I can link the two and make a chain....ch ch chain of fools!! That would give me almost 10 gallons.

Temperature is off the charts today I don't even wanna talk about it. 😬

CO2 is pumping, cats are happy, what could go wrong? šŸ’š

So for the nerds like me who love to do the math it goes like this...

There's a pump in the rez doing fountain style aeration 10 mins on and 20 min off all day for a total of 8 hrs. I don't do bubbles and electricity is not cheap!

Right now they're set for two 7 second feedings a day, once at lights on and one 8 hours later. This will increase as the roots fill the pot and I adjust for the loss of runoff.

They're at about 900 ppm and 5.8 pH. I start the pH low because it will drift up in the next few days to 6.5 usually by the time it's time to refresh the rez.

I'm hoping a combination of experience and dumb luck will get me through this run. If not there's always the next one. šŸ’š

Dude, I am loving being able to tag along on this journey. It's fugging awesome! We have the same type/probably brand too, of storage shed set up as our pool shed. I just called my wife in to show her what you are doing and she immediately looked at me and said "No!" Even the dog was like WTF?!?! 😜

Thank you for the kind words! Dogs are easy to impress but fellow growers not so much!

And when your wife says "you can move all your tents outside now" please don't blame me!

I've got 10 more weeks to go until the finish line and I still have no idea where I'm hanging and drying these mofos come Sept.

If you like shit shows, you've come to the right place! šŸ’š

I think they like their new watering regimen more than I do. Lights off temp is still hotter than lights on which is never great but just a fact of life right now.

This sherbet is my fav so far, her health and structure has been the best so far. Even the kratky jar is doing ok with 85° water inside. Who woulda thunk it eh?

The spotted lantern fly situation here is out of control. The neighbors have a tree of heaven and my yard is swarming with them but so far zero inside the shed. Every morning is like a murder marathon. Spray and squish, spray and squish it never ends!

Anybody else have these fuckers around?

I hate these fucking latern Flys. They almost killed my black walnut tree. Planted milk weed for the butterflies and shop vac the fuck out of the tree when they are still young nymphs.

Ugly as sin also

They're doing great underwater but not so prolific on top. I'm thinking if I cull the little one maybe the big one will do better? idk. I'm going to leave them be for now.

I have another kratky experiment with compost, coco and perlite on top of plain water.

And then I took a cut from a plant to see how small I can get rooting like this so clones stay manageable in small jars.

Thats interesting with half soil mix and plain water. Im trying to get away from soil.

I'm curious how well they would work for 12/12 and for clones or possibly mothers.
