SE 250 nothing new, just busting out of the tent
woohoo.gif

SE 220 one pic with both plants. The one on the right is a male. I took it out and will let it finish outside to grab some pollen so I can pollinate a branch from the Big Girl under the SE 250. Will be giving her fresh nutes shortly

Second pic is after male removed and defoled

S 600 I defoled the plant on the left a couple days ago. Amazing to see how the new leafs have grown. She got fresh nutes today

The 'big' plant on the right back was defoled yesterday

Clones Looking healthy, although no roots yet

Lol! Still trying to use the lenses excuse. I didnt assume anything. Explain why the bottom half of the plant got cooked ? Definately not from the lenses. Its not just your primary leaves that are scorched, all the leaves on them are scorched. You do know that you arent spuppose to foliar spray plants under intense light.
You also mention how much better EH nutes are. How can you tell that they are better when your plants look that bad? Them plants would have went staight to my compost pile.
You really know how to shoot yourself in the foot when someone is willing to help you out.

Sorry to have waited so long to correct you once again. When you look at a picture it's snap shot in time, assuming why based on that is idiotic.

I stopped foliar spraying once pistils showed, but thought that might have been the issue, as I forgot what really happened to burn all the leafs

Just as I changed from Hydroponic Research nutes to Emerald Harvest for flowering, pH was going up several points per day over ~ 7 days. Consequently, I was adding a lot more acid to bring it down than I had ever used to balance pH. I was in constant contact with EH about this.

Then it hit me- my pH pen was dieing. I immediately drained the rezes, and flushed while waiting for my new pH pen but the damage had been done

No need to apologize for waiting to get the courage up to admit you were wrong. So, it was a PH issue. Makes sense. Thanks for finally admitting I was right about it not being from foliar spraying.

my newest DIY solution to keep the air pump air cool. I placed a container of blue ice inside a small Igloo, then set the air pump on top. After taking the picture, I surrounded it with ice cubes

An often asked question is: "Does DeFol work?"

When you do it right, absolutely. Until this time I was doing it wrong.

The technique is:

DeFol at first sign of pistils. Repeat at ~ 20 days

In the past I always picked the largest leafs throughout.

The short plant on the left (3rd pic), had its first DeFol ~ 5 days sooner than the other 2. Pretty amazing

With so many things going on, I have been negligent to start checking pH, which notoriously rises during flower. his is due to the hormonal changes needed to make buds, and the waste products get dumped through the roots.

Checking the 3 x 3 pH was over 7.5. Not terrible, but not good either.

Took a few heavy squirts to bring it into range, ditto the SPYDR 600 tent, though it was not that high @ ~ 6.5

I will be monitoring and adjusting daily until harvest

I am very impressed with what DeFol has done for me, at least when I started it from day 1 of pistils

Pic 1 & 2: Alas, I missed step one on the plant under the SE 250 (my biggest plant), so her undergrowth has not developed as much as the bush under the SPYDR 600 (pic 4). I wish I had taken a pic immediately after DeFoling her. Pic 3 is the plant under the SE 220

SE 250/S 600: Both have a brownish residue floating around. It might be benies from the Root Wizard, but I cleaned the rezes, pump filters, totes, etc.

Made fresh nutes for both

DeFol: This is for me so I know when to do the final DeFol under the S 600 and SE 220.

I DeFoled the plants under the S600 was august 25th, so second DeFol scheduled for September 15th

SE 250: As I mentioned earlier, I first DeFoled the large plant on the 8/28, missing the first opportunity (scroll back to see first DeFol pic)

WOW

SE 220 She has not kept pace with the other 2, but seems no worse for DeFoling

S 600 I was able to DeFol the bush under the at first pistils

WOW

New Technique for Seed Germination

I saw it advertised in Hi-Times New Product section 1-2 months ago. Water Beads. I bought a pound through Amazon.

They are the size of large grains of salt, only round. Add water, wait 30-40 minutes and they swell up to ~ 3/8" D. Once they've swollen, drop the seeds into them, and let them germ.

Once taproot gets long enough remove with tweezers

so this is odd

All plants getting identical nutrient mix, including top offs

The pH in the rez feeding the plant under the SE 220 drops daily from ~ 5.7 to 5.1-2

but the other 2 rezes, the pH raises to ~ 6.4, also daily

I watched the DeFo video again, paying close attention to the second DeFo. My plants have a lot more and bigger primaries (could be the Emerald Harvest nutrients, hydro, and/or the structured water, and/or the SPYDR 600 LED light. Anyway, going to DeFo #2 now (16 days) instead of recommended 20 days

Here's some 'before' pics (will post post DeFo soon), as well as the beauty under the SE 250 (she smells like Diesel!). Not going to DeFo her again

Clones are doing well

and my experiment using water beads is definitely working. I bought a bunch of cut Cilantro (already wilted) and placed some in a jar with the beads 2 days ago. A good bit of it has perked up

Brief update post DeFol. Now that the lower, smaller leafs are not being shaded, they are all reaching up toward the light. This can only benefit feeding more photons to the lower bud sites

Note the lower, smaller leafs around the buds are reaching up. This means more photons to feed the buds. They should get a lot bigger over the next 3+ weeks

The first 2 are under the Amare SE 220. The next 2 under the SPYDR 600

sick video, do you have any other links to resources for defoliating? I did a quick search on here but didn't find much.

No, I didn't feel the need to delve any deeper. If done as they say

at first pistils

then again 20 days later, it seems golden here

I wish I had done it for the big plant under the SE 250, but I do have 3 nice clones from her
