Well the time has finally come. Haha. Lights are going off on Wednesday and Iām gonna start cutting and hang drying them Friday. First harvest. Gonna miss these guys lol. Been through a lot with em haha. Wish me luck
How long do you think? Looked at the trichomes and they are pretty much all cloudy with a little amber. Iād say about 70% cloudy. 20% clear and 10% amber. They are changing pretty rapidly so I figured by Friday they would be good. Friday will be 8.5 weeks in flowerLooks beautiful! But she doesnt look finished to me. I think she can go a bit longer and give even more.
Just wanna start by saying Iām no expert here haha. Itās my first grow. But from what I understand if you are growing in soil that has organic amendments in it you donāt need to flush. Only need to flush if you are adding liquid nutrients. Seems like a heated topic around here haha. Some people will tell you that flushing makes for a smoother smoke (less harsh) and some people will swear that it doesnāt matter. My research has led me to believe that itās worth it to flush. Iām just going off other peopleās opinions though. I think it comes down to personal preference. I have no idea if it matters or not. I decided to flush regardless. I think the safe route would be to flush 1-2 weeks before harvest. I did 1 week. Just used regular tap water @150 TDS. Let it sit out for a couple days to evaporate the chlorine. Then P.H the water to 6.2 and gave them enough water to have about 20% run off. Hope this helps youHeya Steve! Nice colas you have there well done farmer! Hey I have 2 gals that are starting week 7 of flowering today and itās a 7-8 week strain. How long did you flush? When did you start to flush? Iām just starting to see some orange hairs in the last week. Thanks in advance!!! Peace

Thanks man. I am Looking at the calyx. Most pistals are dark and have curled in. Iād say like 85% of the colas have curled in. I would personally like to let them go a little longer but I herd harvesting takes a long time. Iāve been told mine would take a while cause I didnāt do much defoliating haha. I donāt have much free time in the coming weeks. I have this Friday off work. The kids are in daycare all day and my wife is at work all day too. Seems like the perfect time to do it lol. Wonāt have any distractions haha. Are the trichs you are looking at on the calyx or the bud leaves?
If the leaves they usually turn earlier. I wait until the pistils have died back more and the trichs are as close to 100% cloudy as possible. Also the flowers get a more done look to them.
Of course some plants are ready sooner but i almost always go a couple weeks at least past breeder quotes. I never heard anyone compain about weed cut a little later but always here disapointment when harvested early.
That said. Real nice work. The flower is lovely. And im sure she will be tasty and still potent this week too. She is definitely entering the harvest window now.

Thatās amazing. I have 4 plants. They are pretty big (about 4-5 ft tall). Iād say about 3 or 4 times bigger then your picture. I have a serious amount of leaves on them tough haha. I have never done it before so not to sure what to expect exactly. I guess the only way to learn is to actually do it. I figured if I took the day I would be able to get them done no problem. How many plants are you harvesting? I can cut a 5 oz indoor bush never defoliated with every original leaf still on it and chop it into individual branches to hang in 20 minutes. We do it almost every week here. We start a seed/ clone almost every week and harvest about the same. Veg and flower rooms alway running perpetually.
Oh. We leave the bud leaves attached and dry about a week then dry trim on screened trim trays to collect loose trichomes.
Here is an example.

Hey there so if I have a 7-8 week strain and I want to flush with water should I start the flush at the beginning and week 8??Are the trichs you are looking at on the calyx or the bud leaves?

Nice bud wowMan they look great! You have a real nice harvest ahead. And youre right. It is all a big learning curve to get through.
And that plant is 2ā x 2ā and yielded almost 6 oz dry. All nice bud. I staggar 4 a 600 hps like that.

Thatās crazy. Is it autoflower or photoperiod? If photoperiod how long were you in VEG for ? Did you do some kind of LST ? What is your growing medium ?Man they look great! You have a real nice harvest ahead. And youre right. It is all a big learning curve to get through.

If you donāt mind, bending at an angle or 90 degrees? My buddy wants to ābendā my girls (start of 6 weeks flower). Thanks man. Its a feminized seed Blue lemon thai. I bend the plants in flower by week 2 to bush them out and she was vegged 5 or 6 weeks.
