Everything can use discretion. when it doesn't seem like enough wind blow harder.
Back on to the other note, the stem test check for dryness. If its too humid that could be a tricky one. Buds will follow room temps/humidity and you can only get them so dry. even if a mechanical dryer is used they will return to that level in a matter of no time. Unless you get into those freeze drying methods. Those are out of my rhelm of knowledge.
I tried storing weed with a 6 month cure on it in a freezer. I wouldnt typically do that again unless storage temps were a factor. IMHO it stores best in a cool dark place in the crawl space of the basement. It keeps perfect and even gets better with more age. like fine wine with more time the better it becomes.
Unlike wine it pot will drop off. Pot has a much shorter shelf life. I've not reached it. 2 - 2.5 years was the longest I ever stored pot and it was still nice. Hella smooth nice.
Once again I agree!
The branch will snap when it's well past time to put it in a jar. That's just a poor way to judge imo. I want some moisture in the stems. Not much, but enough to where the moisture will redistribute to the buds Once in a jar for 12-18 hours. I'll dump out all the jars again, and let it get a light breeze on it for 30-45 min. I'll do this 4-6 times a day IF I'm going for tipy top shelf, personal bud. It may take 3 weeks before I'm ready to store for a day, or two, and then do it over until I have the moisture content I want.
I've had very good success with long term storage.
I searched, and searched for true scientific studies on how long it takes before THC/cannabinoids will begin to degrade. Although it's the general concensus that 2 years is the max before it degrades, I only found 1 scientific study on the topic period, and the bud was not stored well at all. Still, after 5 years, the buds only lost around 30% of its potency.
I'm not going to get into my own experience, but I've had excellent long term storage success. Jars air tight, put in a cool, absolutely 100% dark area.
I'll give an example of a Cheese strain I grew. It smelt fruity the entire time it grew, and the entire time I went through my curing process. It was finally ready to store. 6 months later, it smelt just like Parmigiano. I don't know exactly when the changevof smell took place, but it worked. Thoes smells was an exception, as that's the only time I had such a drastic change.
As for getting they hey smell, and taste, with a good long flush, and cutting way way down on the N (say at week 4 of an 8, or 9 week strain) that smell shouldn't occur.
I probably should have started my own thread on the issue. My apologies for hijacking
