My last words on the subject.
Are hermies a desirable trait?
Not in my opinion.
In my garden my rules apply. Hermies are trash, in the trash they go.
I certainly do not see any utility in them. Like you said, your garden, your rules. I'll echo that sentiment all day long! 🍻

too much people spread the hermie fear, like you must kill all hermie ... that's far from really needed at all.

rather recent elitism

Ironic...
Now, doubly Ironic.

I've never heard of "hermie fear." Is that a thing? Where's the utility in herm plants? I would submit about as much utility as being a contrarian for the mere sake of being a contrarian, no?

no not ironic, while it's not adivsed to breed hermie genetic over many generation growing them pose no issue at all most of the time

first it all depend what kind of hermie your dealing with.

strong hermie showing lot of balls cluster on nodes or inside the tops, i personnally never encountered such hermie

strain that are prone to hermie and that only a few pheno per batch will show few balls bottom of canopy with lite environnemental stress first few weeks of flowering stretch.
in this case just keep a watchfull eyes and pluck the balls.
i have grown countless of lite hermie without getting any seeds in the end.

I guess some folks will chose to die on the smallest of hills. I'm glad your process serves you well. 👍🏻

yeah hermie fear lot of people just advise new growers to kill any hermie or that seeds from an hermie will be 100% herm ...

as to clarify how they are util to me:

growing in SOG short veg not topping no lst, any plant removal will have a signifiant impact on final tent yield, and i m often short on renewing my stock between each harvest. that's why i don't kill the hermies as the large majority of time i don't get any seeds in the end carefully plucking the balls

but large majority of my grow i don't get any herm, just happen with few phenos per batch with some strains

I agree with @HerbalEdu my first 2 grows both hermed and i ran them to the end yes picking thru seeds gets annoying but the weed still smokes great and seems pretty potent to me and i also saved seeds 🤘

Was looking for an appropriate place to post this. First time I ever saw one of these I thought it was a herm or a male, lol. Was out in the garden today and noticed this one is swelling em up nice and fat and while I've noticed them before, never seen them covered with trichomes while they were in full veg like this. Gonna make this one "mom."

If your plants were flowered young from seed and they are not of mystery origin
.. I would take cuts and go have a look again .. 20 years back I did just that with a very well known strain .. could of cried I had 5 differant girls with balls .. spoke to the breeder who suggested try again .. my keeper from that bunch stayed with me for 15 years and despite at times completely abusing it .. never a gonad to be seen .
