thanks Budder!

Ok Kolah...great advice...I was being lazy....that looks like a great idea though.
And its doesn't look to hard or expensive really.

And you talked me into it. I'll give that a shot..

Thanks again!

The humidity was at a whopping 88% this morn.
low temp was 39
And I doubt that the cheap humidity thing is even accurate.

Your carpenter skills should help you make a homemade woodstove. Look online and there are lots of simple plans for making a woodstove out of a metal barrell. Shouldn't cost ya much at all. I use Craigs List.

Great tips Kolah Hopefully this will help other that come to this site looking for tips and ideas.

The Farm Is great for that.

I just found these (says food grade) 20 bucks.
gonna go pick one up in a few min. :)

Don't rule out electric heating..although a bit more expensive it might be a good option. Those small electric oil heaters seem quite nice...and probably all you need.

I always have 2 RH meters in my GH. Your RH reading is probably accurate. A few nights like that and PM (powdery mildew) is gonna bite ya in the ass.

If you use barrels for waterheat put them on the Northside where they won't block your sunshine.

ok well,
I got the barrel for 20 bucks and bought some hardware for bout 6 bucks.

I use self tapping screws All day at work

I had an old 6 inch exhaust duct I know its not thick enough to be stove pipe,
But I donna wanna spend 4o bucks on a stove pipe

I don't own a cutting torch but I do have a grinder and cutting blades
Turned out to be the perfect tool really

took bout a half hour (with med breaks) to build it,

Cant upload right now for some reason? Mods?

I wanna do a test burn in it. But it a Fucking No burn day.

I use a metal cutting blade on my 3 inch Makita grinder to cut metal. It works great. A Sawzall (with a fine tooth blade) will work too but will often vibrate like a mofo.

Shop in CL for some used stove pipe. You are going to want double-walled pipe for sure, triple-wall if you can find it. (cuz you be running it through plastic, I assume) . You could also build a metal heat box where the pipe will pass through. Or go underground.

Does no burn days include outdoor grilling?

I am So Grateful for your help kolah.
Great info your putting out there!

The 3 inch Makita grinder is exacly what I used.

Ok I hear ya on the stove pipe...

I figured I would have to cut the plastic way back away from the pipe.

But if the electric oil heater works, that seems easier than lighting a fire every nite.
I could put the heater on a timer too.

It got down to about 31 outside lastnite. The ground is covered with frost.

The greenhouse temp got down to 34....I shoulda had the oilheater on high instead of med.
its already up to 42 now 37 outside
The humidity is still way to high at nite. 80%
drops down to 40 in the day

Today is a burn day. So im gonna fire up the burn barrel and see if that helps lower the humidity

for most effective humidity removal

i would try to use the wood burner at night. (i read about burn restriction)this is where you will be most effective.

just a question.... do the homes around you have fireplaces? if so are you not allowed to make a fire in your house to keep warm on "no burn days"?

good Question CannaBeans

As far as I know they only "Let" you burn if it's your only choice for heat.

It's BS.

I doubled and triple layered the plastic on the Northern sides of the GH.

The oil heater is working well in these 30 something cold nites.
The days have been nice and sunny though..in the 60's

I think the temps and humidity are good now.
so,
I added a some more plants. :sun

I'm working on a similar setup, and hope you get all the kinks worked out. If I come across any good info I'll be sure to chime in.
